As soon as we arrived we checked in into a cheap guesthouse near the main backpacker area and after a shower we went for dinner to a vegetarian restaurant that Renea wanted to try out.
We then went to Pacharan, the spanish bar recommended by Raul (the spanish guy i meet in Hoi An). They had a band playing, so of course, I end up on the stage doing some chorus to the singer, an Argentinian guy that has been living here for a few years now.
The following day we first visited the Market, where we end up stopping to eat some nice noodle soup, before heading to Notre Dame Cathedral and then to the Reunification Palace. Built in 1966 to serve as South Vietnam's Presidential Palace. It was towards this building that the first communist tanks in Saigon rushed on the morning of 30 April 1975, the day Saigon surrended. IT's amazing to see some of the rooms at this place as they have been left as in 1975 (see the decor on the photos). We then checked out cinemas to see Sex and the City the movie, as it was the opening the following day and of course
The Palace of Reunification
El Palacio de la Reunificacion being the fans we are we had to go and see it.
The following day Renea and I went to the War Remnants Museum, which documents the atrocities of the war. You can see so many photos from the war and how people suffered, and still suffering, due to the chemicals used during the war. I had to look away some times as the images were really distressing. There was also tanks, guns, planes, bombs, etc from the war. The thought that these atrocities and crimes to humanitiy only happened a few years ago is disconcerning, and incomprehensible.
In the afternoon to change our moods after the museum we needed to laugh a little so we went to see Sex and the City the Movie!!!! It was incredible (even without the sex scenes they cut out!) and I will always remember it.
That night we meet Raul for a drink at Pacharan and then he took us to a really nice club called the Cage, were they had pretty good music and a couple of people playing the saxofon and timbales. IT was a really good club, except for one thing, the AC was not working so it got so hot

El Palacio de la Reunificacion inside that most people was outside the club for fresh air (and believe me it was hot hot outside too). So at the end we decided to go somewhere else so Raul took us to Apocalipse Now for a drink.
We had to get up at 5.30 to catch our bus to Cambodia, so we didn't sleep much that night.
The Palace of Reunification
