Bathroom
You cannot stand in here with your arms outstretched, ha ha
Well woke up this morning and what do I get Mike has been up all night watching the Olympics - not a good start to the morning as it is my BIRTHDAY today. Anyway went to the bathroom and there was lots of stickers on the mirror saying happy birthday.
We went for our normal breakfast which is chicken noodle soup. I know you must be thinking oh no but to be honest it is really light and fresh with the herbs you put in.
Went to drop some washing off today as there was a laundrette we found. When we got there my clothes weigh 1kilo as been washing most by hand whilst away. Anyway for 2 kilo it was 30,000 dong so not best pleased as could have washed more, so pay my 30,000 dong (30 pence) and then notice across the road I could have got my 1 kilo of washing done for 15,000 dong (15 pence). Paula is not a happy chappy now!
We then decided to go to the tallest tower that has just been finished in Ho Chi Minh - as mentioned before trying to get a full house of tall towers
Our Room
Do you love the nylon bedding - I don't as I keep slipping out of bed! in the world. It was really good and gave us a real perspective on the city. After this we went to the market and Mike bought my birthday present a Vietnamese baseball cap - he was really annoyed as he could not negotiate a best price for it as it was Fixed Price of 30,000 dong which in sterling is a £1. To be honest it is a fab present and I want another as I know I will be sweating over the next few months and will ruin this hat. He also negotiated for a pack of cards as at the moment we are playing on the Mac Air which is not the easiest thing to do - especially when you want to play BlackJack as I do not have this software on the Mac.
On the way back we stopped off for a drink and met an Irish lad and a Dutch lad. The Irish lad gave us a good tip for a hotel when we get to Hanoi so kept this.
On the way to the drink we were accosted by about 7 Vietnamese students - my first thought was what are they trying to
Mike in our Room
Locking the bags - risk adverse or what! sell us! until we found out they do this every Sunday so they can practise their English.
Anyway negotiated a trip for us and the two girls who arrived at the same time a trip down Mekong River for 1 night $19. Now need to convince the girls that paying $90 for about the same trip apart from us being on a private tour the $19 is the best deal. I think I can get this down a couple of $ when it gets down to booking but waiting for their reply.
I have taken pictures of our room for the next 3 weeks. In the bathroom you can have a s..t, shower and shave at the same time as it is so small. There is no way you can put the shower head in the holder as all it does is shower the sink and basin and misses you completely -so shower head in hand. Also mentioned to Mike when you have wet yourself with water turn it off until you are ready to rinse off as the hot water is limited.
We are so lucky we have a fridge in our room so plenty of chilled water - funny thing was Mike says to me this morning should I be using tap water to clean my teeth - WHAT I exclaim you have been using tap water to clean your teeth - NOOOOOOO you should be using bottled water - no wonder you have the trots!
