Tuesday, March 17th

The last day of our PADI course dawned with beautiful weather. The sea was calm as we made our way to the dive site for our last two open water dives. We had prayed for calm and peace and safety and our prayers were answered! Both dives were a great success. We saw beautiful coral, a few angry Clown fish, two octopus, trumpet fish, Sea Urchins an a whole lot of other creatures. We returned home in high spirits and after a nap and lunch we reviewed our study material.

We wrote our final exam at 17:45 and both got 49 out of 50 (the one we got wrong was a silly mistake! Argh!).

So, we got our PADI Open Water Certification on St. Paddy's Day! Hehehe! We went out for a few green beers to celebrate both. Cheers Sibhuan and Tony, our Irish mates! Hope you're havin a good one, wherever you are!

Today's highlights:
1. Earning our OW Certification!
2. Celebrating our PADI and St. Paddy's day.

Thought for the day:
There is so much beauty in the world and we must never lose sight of that.

After an exhausting three days we slept late then had a good breakfast followed by a lazy day watching a movie on TV, catching up on our blog and being generally unproductive. Our blog had been giving us such a hard time lately. It's a battle to get anything uploaded.

We got a shock when researching the cost of dive equipment online. Ouch! We got ourselves involved in a suuuuper expensive hobby. Well, no use crying over spilled milk (and it's still cheaper than skydiving)!

In the afternoon we went to the beach. A young Vietnamese lady approached us and asked if she could speak to us. We said yes even though we expected her to try and sell us something. It turned out that she comes to the beach every afternoon and speaks with foreigners to practice her English so that she can get a job as a receptionist for an international company. Ferdi quickly got bored but Talita thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and spoke to her for more than an hour. She asked us about our visa and that reminded us that it expires in five days! We had forgotten all about it! It's hard to believe that we've been in Vietnam for almost a month. We'll have to look at getting an extension or moving on. Neither of us want to go yet so tomorrow we'll see how much an extension costs. Fingers crossed!

Today's highlights:
1. Lazy and relaxing day.
2. Being reminded of our visa expiry.

wow wow wow!
What an adventure. I was half expecting the "young lady on the beach" story to end up as a threesome! all of a sudden Ferdi would not have been so bored! On the bright side, at least you wont be deported or even arressted. Imagine have Carte Blanche visiting you in Jail 10 years from now! ha ha! happy travles verder!
