Rest Stop
This was our "rest stop" from Nha Trang to Mui Ne. Nice view, huh!! It was like this the whole bus ride down. Highway 1 would make a beautiful road trip if you dare drive in Vietnam Well, I reconfirmed my love for SE Asia at the beautiful Mui Ne Beach in south Vietnam. We took a bus (by Sinh cafe, which has been excellent to travel by) from Hoi An to Nha Trang, and then Nha Trang down to Mui Ne. As we traveled along, it was cool to see the change in landscape. The north has been nothing but jungle, but as we moved south it was more desert-like. All the plans got smaller, and was soon just shrubs and palm trees. Nha Trang is the biggest beach destination in Vietnam... growing like crazy, like everywhere else in Vietnam. Beachside high-rises everywhere, although I have heard that they are running out of money. We transferred buses for the 5 hr ride from Nha Trang to Mui Ne and arrived in Paradise. Beachside bungalows, beachfront cafes, surf shops, and fruit smoothies galore. We stayed at a lovely little hotel called Sunsea Resort. Our room opened up to the oval pool framed by bouganvellia (spelling?) and was just a few meters from the beachfront. The weather was perfect. It was about 80 degrees with a nice breeze the whole time. The sand didn't burn my feet, the wind

This was the view from the patio of our room was enough for the kitesurfers, and I didn't get sunburned at all. Aaahhhh. Much better from the drizzly Hoi An weather, as well as better than the humid afternoons we will soon be experiencing in Singapore. Every morning our hotel had an amazing 5-course breadfast. Baguettes with jam, fresh fruit (not just cantelope and watermelon - we had mango, dragonfruit, several others) banana crepes, omlettes, it was so good. Our days pretty much consisted of walking on the beach, swimming in the sea and the pool, deciding where to have dinner, eating dessert on the beach... so relaxing. Although I do have to say that Thailand is still my favorite country. People are always trying to exorbitantly overcharge you, and hassle you for motorbike rides. I also do not love the constant sound of car/motorbike horns. We left Mui Ne Thursday afternoon and stayed in Saigon for one night before we flew out. We have now arrived back in Singapore, refreshed and ready to celebrate Chinese New Year! Raymond has two friends coming out to visit for a couple weeks, Kevin and Pierre. New Year's Eve is Monday night, and his family will have a big party here at the

ahh.... it was every bit as beautiful as the pictures... the birds and butterflies flying through the flowers house. I uploaded some videos - I hope they work. We are off now for a run on the beach before we have dinner. Love to all, and I'll blog again after New Year.
