16 November to 19 November 2012 – The photographer and I got a bus from Hải Phòng city to Nho Quan town, then we hired a taxi to Cúc Phương national park (182km in total). The taxi driver was a military doctor who owned a private car. As he knew I was worried about leeches, he gave me medicine.and cotton which can help me stop bleeding in case of leech bite. It takes an hour for one way boat ride (going along stream and through 3 caves). Tourists stop at this temple before taking another one hour boat ride back to the wharf.

There are restaurant and simple guesthouse at the center of the park. It's located 20km from the entry gate. From this place, tourists have to walk 3km in the jungle to the thousand year old tree.

There are some bridges that you will see while cruising the stream. Sometimes you have to lower your heads when going under it.

There are several places to visit at the park like caves, ancient trees, villages of the Muong and H'mong ethnic minority people. The park is shared by 3 provinces.

This type of boat is too small and not for tourists.

Tourists have to go 20km by motorbike or by car from the entry gate to the center of the park, then walk 3km in the jungle to get to this place.

It's so high that I couldn't take a picture of the whole tree.

I crossed the river by boat from the residential area to the hot spring resort. I slept for a night at a stilt house.

When we got back to the wharf, we saw 8 oxen carts and French tourists.
