Movie time
The Viet Cong tunnels were according to the Guide about 250 kilometres long. Thousands of people lived in there during the war, with weapons storage, hospitals, cooking all under ground. We were told by the Guide : The Southeren one: that some American soldiers avoiding dropping bombs on homes vissible and dropped them in the country side instead. Thinking they would save lives, but the damage on the tunnels was catastrophic. The Viet Cong invented horrific traps that would maime not kill, so they could interrogate their captives. Before you get to the tunnels you are shown a movie, yoy have to no chance to by pass this. It is all the damage done to the Vietnam country side. The Guide who was with us, made an exuse for the film to the Americans who were part of our group. The tunnels were amazing but we managed to fit in it, to see what it was all about. A demonstartion was given by a Vietnamese soldier, it shows how small and hidden the tunnels were. At the ebnd of the road youy can shoot some of the guns that were used, for a payment of course. It had been a long day
