Hanoi I arrived in Sapa in the Northwest of Vietnam on the 21st December and spent a day there while waiting to catch the night train to Hanoi which I duly did. This is the trail at its widest. At the beginning it would have been much smaller as the foilage would have provided cover from the air.

Tet (Vietnamese new year) was on the 26th Jan and people were buying flowers etc from stalls such as these.

The silkworm wraps himself in silk and is than put into hot water where the silk is extracted. The dead worm is than sent to local restaurants.

The pig was roasted and placed outside the premises for the morning where incense etc was burned in front of it. It was than chopped up and devoured by the crew.
