But no this isn’t where Americans were held- supposedly. "I report- You Decide"
We arrived in Hanoi around 1:00 pm and immediately set out to tour the city. We were wondering if it would be much more restricted and if our guide would be as open as the others had been. We immediately liked him when he meet us and said, “Americans. Great I love Americans!” We took a look at Ho Chin Mien’s burial site and his house. He was a very simple man and lived in a home no bigger than 200 sq ft. I can see why people were drawn to him. But no, I am not turning Communist- don’t worry.
Afterwards, we took a tour of the city and the architecture was beautiful. Many of it was leftover from the French Colony days. We later tour the famous Hanoi Hilton where we saw John McCain’s flight jacket and his cell. Our guide speaks wonderful English and he is the easiest to understand we have had so far. Every time we left a site, our guide would say, “I report, you decide.” (Yes he gets Fox News- Which I don’t think he is supposed to because he said he gets it through the Black Market)
