Hello Again,
well the next 2 weeks were spent in 4 different cities and towns.
Hue
This was a nice little city i thought but Will wasnt too gone on it. We spent two nights here. There was a cool ancient city in the middle of the town but alot of it got flattened in the war. There was even a cock fight (or training for a cock fight) on the main street which obviously happened alot coz not many people paid any attention to it. The other place of interest in the area was the Demiliterized Zone. A few girls (why i took their advice i do not know) conviced me not to go coz it was boring so i decided not to. According to most guys and anyone with more of an interest other than white kittens shopping and clothes i spoke to afterwards thought its a very interesting place so i was a bit pissed off i didnt do that.....next time though.
But Hue is the place where a little part of me died. A piece you all knew very well, some fondly others with hatred.....yes in Hue my camera sadly passed away (RIP my long
serving friend). The stupid fecking screen on it just stopped working one evening and although it would still take pics i had no idea what they looked like or what setting the camera was on. I decided to wait till i got to Saigon to buy a new one( i didnt know that it would take so long) I found out 2 weeks later that most of the pics i took were blurred coz of the setting on the camera so im afraid there are very few and crap blured photos on this blog.
Hoi An
Dont you just know it......as soon as the camera breaks you enter a little gem of a town! This was a very pretty town along the coast with miles and miles or quiet sandy beaches and also an ancient city on the outskirts (which was mostly flattened as per usual by our friends across the atlantic) and some very posh but cheap as chips hotels! The must notably feature of the town is the cool french cafes along the river and the Tailor shops.
There are hundreds of these shops ranging from very large to very small. All of them have excellent quality
materials like silk and other clothes material stuff. Everything is tailor made for you for rediculously cheap prices. I got myself a nice smart black shirt that fits like a glove for 8 euros. They do suits coats shirts dresses scarves....anything you want! Seriously consider this place if you are looking for some great suits and shirts. For the price of 3 suits back home you could have a great holiday and return home with 10 suits!
Tip of the day: Even though i am not a big shopper you should only enter this town with an empty suitcase!!!
Nha Trang
Well this town is a great little party town! It has 3 or 4 bars and clubs that were packed every night mainly because from hanoi to here there is not much nightlife so when you land here everyone over does it a little too much!!! 3 or 4 days is great here but not a week which was how long i was stuck here. Due to my passport going missing for 5 days when i sent it off for my visa extension i was sort of stranded here. The first few days were fine and we had
great craic on a party boat which took us out into the bay where we did snorking which was amazing, and alot of drinking. The captain and crew even doubled up as a live band on our boat with drums guitars and all for a while!!I was that bored after 4 days though i even went to a mud spa and lay in a tub of mud and hot (very fecking hot) springs with a few mates. The days were spent just recovering from the night before and most of the time we werent in the mood to do anything and just lie on the beach, hence the lack of blogs in the last 2 weeks.
When i finally decided to leave, the typhoon that devistated the philipines threw a spanner in the works. the whole town shut down and all buses in and out of the place were cancelled so i had to wait another night! Everyone was expecting the worse except all the tourists who were excited that a typhoon was coming. The bars on the night of the typhoon never did so much business and thats not a joke!! it was madness! But to be honest the
typhoon had reduced to a tropical storm and was disappointing....ive seen alot worse back home!
Mui Ne
OK you will like this place is you are a surfer or retired. There a alot of older people here staying in some very fancy hotels indeed. Its a very long town with no real centre to it hence its very quiet and relaxed. The beaches are long and quiet and its great for wind and kite surfing. There are some really cool sand dunes and canyons here which would make you think you were in the middle of the sahara. I visited the dunes on a windy day and the sand really stings so i cant imagine what a sand storm most be like. This is a good place to recharge the batteries after nha trang and prepare yourself for saigon!!!!!
Finally thanks to Will for all the non blured photos!
