I have some time now to blog. I’ll take some time and write a little about Jungle Beach. We LOVED the place. As soon as we walked in Syl (the owner) welcomed us. We were instantly greeted with some lemon water and were sat down to eat some lunch. After lunch Syl showed us some bungalows that we could choose from. We chose one close to the bathroom and between the beach and dining area, A6. We settled in and went for a swim in the ocean. The beach is pretty nice. Clear water, white sand etc. Our only complaints were there was nothing to see while snorkeling, and the wind made it really hard to lay on the beach. The dogs really make the place. They are always happy to see you and love a quick scratch. They follow you everywhere, lay with you on the beach, walk with you on the beach and bark at any Vietnamese boy that is walking your direction (they don’t like Vietnamese boys).
Meal times were always fun. Everyone sits around the table and the dishes start coming out. The food was always really good. I even liked the seafood which I hate at

home. After dinner everyone sort of mingles around. Card games get started, stories get told, drinks get drank etc. Most nights it led us to a fire on the beach. During the day at Jungle Beach we spent a lot of time reading and relaxing. One morning we hiked to a waterfall, and one afternoon we drove to a fishing village.
The owner Syl was a wealth of information about motorcycling in Vietnam. He’s done many trips himself. He pulled out his map book and showed us different routes. A guy named Jason showed up at Jungle Beach and he also was a wealth of information. He gave us his phone # and we have any problems along the way we can call him. He knows a lot of good mechanics, or high up people.
After 4 nights at Jungle Beach we set off on a 225km drive to Lak Lake just outside of Buon Me Thout. We hit rain a couple times but it never lasted that long. It was nice not driving on Highway 1A. Instead we drove through mountain valleys, and through rice paddies. It was really pretty. We arrived in Lak Lake and came to the Resort Jason and Syl recommended. Of course they don’t have any cheap rooms. So we went and checked out a couple other places, but we both wanted to stay where they recommended (they had to have recommended it for a reason, right?)… so we came back and forked over the $30. Tomorrow we get to move to a cheaper room. It’s a really beautiful place. The rooms are surrounding the lake. It reminds me of a campsite with little walkways, a restaurant, a pool etc. restaurant
