Be warned: lots of pictures of domes, minarets, blue mosaic and tiles. THIS is Samarkand! Timur had built a simple crypt for himself in Shakhrisabz (his hometown) but when he enexpectedly died of pneumonia in Kazakhstan, in the winter of 1405, the roads in the mountains to his hometown were snowed so he was buried in Samarkand.

no pics of my feet in Samarkand... didn't even look at them with all these domes and minarets in the sky! Next time I go, I'll focus on the floor tiles! Promise! ;-)
