After breaky we went back to Gems to look at jewellery. We were given a free taxi/minibus there and back. As soon as we arrive we are offered a soft drink then asked where we were from. Somehow you are allocated a guide who carries with her a calculator. As you look at something, she looks at price and very quickly works out the cost in Aussie dollars. I looked at bracelets but they only had 18ct – too expensive for me. Maybe not the same quality but I am happy with 9ct beville bracelet. I also looked at charms – an elephant. The two I liked were $115 and $148. I really wanted one but decided they were too much. I was very disappointed.
We headed back to hotel and packed our bags. Mum and Dad checked out – put all drinks etc into my fridge. Mel and I went to Robinsons. I bought two bottles of Revlon foundation and a lipstick. Quickly checked emails then met Mum and Dad in food court down stairs. Mel and I ordered a 'number 8 fried rice'. Whilst it cooked, I went and took photos of bakery items. We ate then
headed back to hotel – mum had checked out for us, so we had to just get on bus.
We waved goodbye to the boys outside Georges shop and off we went. It was a three hour bus trip to Cha Am. We had a toilet/food stop half way. Mel feeling sick on the bus but once we stopped and bought a lemonade she seemed fine. I bought a bottle of water and a can of lemonade – I was going to tip the lemonade into a drink bottle from home but Mel asked me not to – it leaves a taste in the bottle. So I had to tip the new water into an old container then lemonade into new one so I could shake it to flatten it slightly for Mel. I then tipped some new water in old container to another old container that had ice but no water left!!
Toilets at this stop were squat toilets that were flushed by ladling water into them from trough. All fun!!!
Arriving at hotel and up to rooms. Very nice – spacious. A lovely plate of fruit as a welcome. Toiletry basket was fantastic – nail file, comb, 2 toothbrushes, 2
soap, sewing kit, cotton buds, shower caps, 2 conditioning shampoos, 1 bubble bath and 1 moisturiser. Mum and Dad had the room next door.
Changed into bathers (woops – I left my bathers in Bangkok – 2nd pair don't fit all that well) and down to pool for a swim. Lovely big pool and spa.
After shower, we (with Helen AGAIN) went out to dinner. Mel asked chips for dinner. I said 'ask Nana' who almost said yes until she saw me. Mel ended up getting an omelette and chips!! I had fried baby corn and chicken – little bland. We stopped for a magnum on the way home – I promised her one for diner as everyone (well, a lot anyway) had one at the bus stop. I didn't want Mel to have milk or chocolate if not feeling well. She and I had a walk on the beach outside hotel then headed to our room for bed. Mel complained that the room smelt so I left the sliding door to balcony open – silly girl. Forgot about mozzies. She went to sleep under sheet. Sheet had come off and mozzie was on her cheek. Also had ants over our stuff
– only been here short time when I found them. Mel went to sleep while I wrote on diary on balcony. Hopefully we don't have too many mozzie bites!!
