Riding on Natalee
02/06/14

This morning we arrived in Phuket. Phuket which is somewhat smaller than Singapore, is Thailand’s largest island, the island is connected to mainland Thailand by two bridges. It is situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoys a rich and colourful history. One of the islands main sources of income is now tourism.

After breakfast a group of six of us hired a 10 seater bus for the day, the cost worked out to be $16.00 each and the driver was fantastic. He took us all around Phuket, even had an elephant ride, the baby elephant is three years old and under training her name is Nicole Kidman, and the elephant we are riding is named Natalee. We then did some more duty free shopping of course, where my haggling skills came to the fore, at least I thought they did. Before returning to the ship we went to a lookout where we observed the local monkeys playing up chewing on car aerials, sitting on bikes, and public mating, all in a days sightseeing. This afternoon we head to Colombo
