Saturday we chose to grab a train from Bangkok to Laos via Nong Khai(Northern Thailand).
We decided to treat ourselves to an air conditioned train car with sleeping beds.
By taking an overnight train, it saved us from having to pay for a room at a guest house while traveling
a great distance. The train cost approximately 30USD each. The 12 hour trip turned into a 16 hour trip. We were told it was because of the flooding in the northern
Bangkok region that the train needed to be navigated around.
since the train took longer than expected, we got to enjoy watching the scenery in the daylight. We purchased some snacks for the ride and ended up eating the food
they served. The
food was decent, but they overcharged us terribly. There was no way to argue, so we just paid them. Despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip north.
