1st morning at the Indra Regent
Well its finally arrived, a long awaited blog from Ju and Kimmy! There were some mishaps on the way to get here but here goes! Our first blog is of Bangkok! The first stop. We were hit first by the heat then the crazy driving! Our taxi guy from the airport didnt know english and took us to the wrong hotel, this is like at 2am so not so fun but we got there eventually! We spent two days there and in that time went shopping at the markets! Pretty cool to walk through tho though the bartering is at first a little overwhelming! Because you cant try anything on at the markets you have to guess if somethings going to fit you. One tshirt I got was too tight and dress too big Doh😉
We treated ourselves to staying at the Indra Regent which was cool. Bangkok was full-on, had many scary tuk-tuk rides and they would always try take you to a gift shop so they could get petrol vouchers! We did say we would look this one time and he took us to a tailor, we walk in and theres like 15sales people that run upto you. We made a quick dash for the door! What do backpackers need with a suit?
We booked a trip for the next day and were meant to be picked up at 6.45am in the lobby but we were still waiting at 8.30! Turned out they had us down for the wrong day:p They said they would organise a private tour for us so we accepted. But the aim of the driver was to catch us up with the group now ahead 3hrs or so! It took about 3hours to get to the first stop of Khanchanaburi. Where in world war two POWs were made to build a bridge that ended up being bombed with the POWs on it. We then squeezed into a little ute with a crack-up driver who told us we were going to eat elephant eggs for lunch and found it funny why Kims parents would call her Camp (they find it hard to say overthere!) We checked out a waterfall then ended up at the Tiger Temple. Was pretty cool here we got to tour around an area where animals roam free (not tigers though they were tied up! Bless..) Had photos with tigers and a cub... So cute!!
That was probably the highlight of two days in Bangkok. We dont know that we would return there, most people were rude and its quite dirty and run-down. But stoked to have gone anyhow! The end for now.. Over and out!
