Got up really early with intention of going on boat trip to Maya Bay (on 'The Beach' film). Beach was completely empty with everyone sleeping off hangovers and boat trip was too expensive on own because had to hire whole baot out, so laid on beach and waited for people to appear. Early trip didn't work out really, because even though beach got full, took until 12'o'clock before plucked courage up to ask people if they wanted to go. Ended up approaching a group of 3 english girls who luckily did want to go. Didn't even hire a boat in end though - was still too expensive, so we all went on a boat trip instead.
Went to Monkey island first which was ace and really wierd to see. Loads of monkeys on a little beach just wondering freely, approaching tourists for food. Not zoo keeper or anyone to watch over them, just completely wild. Didn't get too close because a random boat man told us they could be quite nasty - defo stayed distance...could see Deb gripping onto camera for dear life - ha! 1 poor random guy nearly had a heart attack when a monkey jumped on his
shoulders, made all the worse because a 2nd monkey then joined in and his boatman just took pictures for him rather than getting them off. Poor guy. Was a big guy too; clearly too embarrased to ask for help...or cry!
Went snorkelling then, right in middle of sea. Forced myself to get in even though hate water, but made me feel better because other girls were nervous too. Heart nearly stoppped beating when looked down and saw how deep it was, but Deb held my hand, so was o.k. Really enjoyed it actually, loads of fish all swimming around us - definately better than the knee deep snorkelling I usually do!
Went to Viking caves then, which weren't that impressive to be honest...just looked like holes in the rocks to me! But went to a really cool lagoon after that. Nearly complete closed in by rocks and sea was so green it looked fake. Not clear green like round beaches, but a thick green colour and completely still. Managed to go in for a bit of a swim, but didn'[t last long as I realised that couldn't see anyhting around me and a shark could defo get me
Last of the monkeys
No more I promise.
One of these guys was the jumper I think. in that!
Moved to outside of lagoon for lunch, where water was clearer. Threw food into water and cool to see loads of fish swarming round it to eat it. Braved it and went snorkelling again then. Lot better than first time aswell because loads of different types of fish - including watersnake! That wasn't as much of a welcome suprise and if I have ever moved at speed, it was then! Deb was quick to let go of my hand too...at leat I know where I stand now if we do ever see a shark (or a really small watersnake). Didn't stay too long in water, Deb didn't like being swarmed by all fish and no way I could stay in on my own. Really proud of self for doing it though...will put that in my year11 Record of Achievement!
Water got very rough after that and journey to Maya Bay was either really exciting or really scary depending on what kind of person you are! Very rocky boat,. lots and lots of water coming in and some definate gripping on for dear life done by everybody involved. I thought it was really good actually, but a
lady from Israel was not so impressed!
Made it to Maya Bay in one piece and was pretty awesome. Small beach with very green, clear water and sand so white that it turned my feet white and made tan look very impressive - maybe I should have brought a bag full home! Wondered round island, although very small and was suprised that it wasn't really that impressive - apart from the beach. No waterfall like the film and only really a few trees and of course a cafe! Were supposed to be waiting there for sunset, but was cloudy anyway so headed back early - definately a good thing; nobody wanted to do the deathly boat ride in the dark! Lucky Israel lady managed to cadge a lift home on a speedbaot because she was so scared of long boat journey - wish we had all thought so cleverly!
Ride home was very rough - worse for Deb because she chose the side of the boat that the tide was coming in on, so she got soaked. One of girls from England did the whole journey doubled over in the brace position. Was o.k. though...we all made it
Viking Caves
A.K.A - holes in rocks. back in one piece.
Not going to say much about night now, partly because I can't remember all of it (thankfully), but also because just hate thought of it!
Went out for a brilliant meal first = good! Then went to beach and drunk remains of bottle of vodka = bad. Went to bar, met group of people, drunk more, drunk more, drunk more, went in sea fully clothed, no longer fully conscious, dragged home by Debs, lost shoes, cut feet and woke up feeling terrible = all bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad! Very sorry mummy...promise will never drink again and really mean it because next two days were a complete wipe out too!
22nd October - Happy Birthday Natalie x
Woke up feeling like did when drunk teenager. Insides poisoned and death surely near! Worst hangover ever and had to pack things up ready for leaving. Thankfully Debs nearly did it all for me. Got v.upset and emotional over stupidity of drunkeness and didn't function properly for rest of day. Day consisted of van ride, fast walk, boat journey to Krabi and bus to hotel, throughout which I spent whole
time head down and ill. Stayed for rest of night in hotel then and didn't move. Terrible 😞
23rd October - Can hangovers even last this long?
Woke up, still bad. Ate what could of breakfast and tried brief walk of Krabi, but leaving at 10 anyway to got to Koh Samui. Spent whole day travelling again, with a van, 2 coaches and a boat journey to Krabi - by which point finally felt a little better.
See mum, really have learnt my lesson - will never drink again - definatlely not in large quantities anyway! And yes, we will always stick together - promise!
