At the aquarium So as I start to write this entry it is Tuesday night here in Thailand and Tuesday morning for the rest of you guys and hopefully you guys are all heading to the polls or thinking of doing so later today. I can't wait to see who the next president will be. It is going to be very weird to come home to a country under a new presidency and in great economic trouble.
So on to more Thailand.
Monday 11/3:
After not feeling so good on Sunday my cold got even worse and I woke up on Monday with a very bad sore throat, so I did not go to work. But all the other volunteers (excluding myself, ashley and nicole) have all been working at English camps for the past month, and this week started at their new volunteer placements. Since nicole is leaving at the end of this week and ashley changed placements to a preschool (she is a preschool teacher back home) it would have left only me after this week so they transfered Sam over to the daycare to work with us also. So today was her first day and unfortunately I was
not there for her first day. But she seems to have had a wonderful time and loved the babies just as much as we do.
Tuesday 11/4:
Today I went to work. It is a lot different then it was even last week. Ashley is no longer with us and neither are the older kids. Summer vacation just ended for them so all the oldest kids headed off to preschool along with Ashley. We have some new kids though and its so weird, I don't like not knowing their names. But other then that work was AMAZING!!
After work Sam, Kiri and I walked to an internet cafe about 10 minutes away because the internet here at the house hasn't been working lately. (But now it is...obviously) After that we all headed to the Aquarium here in Trang....there wasn't much to talk about or see haha. So um...yeah.
Wednesday 11/5:
Work was sorta weird today. The morning started off as normal as usual but around 9:30 one of the directors of the nursing college(our day care is at the nursing college) came up to me and started talking to me about Thailand and all my future plans. And then she took me into her office and proceeded to start up her computer and sit me down infront of it. Telling me to use the internet, even though I had/have no need of the internet at the moment. But I didn't know what to say so I started using the internet. It was kind of nice being able to look at the newest presidential results and see how the race is going so far but other then that I had no use of it. Also I didn't know what the protocal for getting up and leaving was...so I sorta felt stuck...
Yay Obama! I guess we all know who the president is now. I think it's pretty nifty that he won. The counting of the ballots was still going on when we got back from work but literally 10 minutes after we got home McCain conceded and Obama became the president elect. Everyone here was very excited about that but it was weird, we all were in shock, no one actually believed he would actually win and it was surprising. So hopefully he will do well and get us back on a good track.
After work we had a Thai Buddhist Monk come again. This one though dealt more with meditation and can heal people through meditation. It was really interesting and I really enjoyed it. After the monk we all went out to dinner at Richy's again. The food was pretty good but I didn't really like it though the first time we went and so my expectations weren't very high.
Thursday 11/6:
All week I had been feeling really shitty, head cold and a wicked bad cough so I stayed home from work to sleep and take lots and lots of cough medicine. So it was a pretty boring day. Nothing to write about.
