Hello!
So...
After we had all finally recovered from the full moon party we decided to head onto the largest of the islands around Thailand which is Koh Samui. Koh Samui is another huge tourist resort with many surrounding beaches. We decided to head to Chaweng beach (Dally, im sure you'll appreciate that name!) as we were told that Chaweng was host to one of the main beaches and it was also where most of the nightclubs, bars and younger people go to and as we were so close to the end of our travels who were we to change the theme!!
The beach itself was beautiful and seemed to curl round the coast for miles. It was also host to hundreds of hotels which were literally beachside. The photos give you some idea of the experience! We checked into a nice hotel and mainly decided to spend our time on the beach and make the most of the sun. Although once again i emerged considerably whiter than every single other person! The days were good fun and we were back to a group of about 12 people. We were also introduced by one of the guys who
had since been to Fiji and met them, to a couple of lovely girls from Woldingham school (which is literally down the road from us back at home.)
Koh Samui provided some very good nightlife and as there was once again a large number of us, we definetly made the most of it so to say! The main focus was a place called Green Mangos (an open air horseshoe bar) which definetly provided alot of entertainment and played to host to our rabble on several occasions!
Not only was the nightlife good but the restaurants and the food in Koh Samui was as good as we'd had all holiday. One of the highlights was a big 'boys dinner' at a restaurant which served up hog roast, steaks, sausages etc etc as well as some of the best seafood i'd had all holiday. The best thing however was that after chatting to the manager he decided to give us an all you can eat buffet as well as free draught beer and our own personal waitors all for 1000 baht each (approx 15 pounds!) The food was second to none and as you can imagine with 8 'growing lads'
Koh Samui Beach
The step down from our hotel! sitting around a table, placed strategically at the rear of the restaurant it was a very, very impressive ordeal! At the end of the night the manager joined us for a couple of drinks and a chat which was a nice touch, either that or the fact we had been there for 5 hours (from 9pm-2am) and were still sitting there almost 2 hours after closing time may have had something to do with it!!! It was a great night and he seemed to appreciate us as we did the experience! The night however, didnt end there as once again it was a trip to Green Mangos where we stayed to see the night in!
The next few days were again spent relaxing around the beach or treating oursleves to massages on or around the beach! As well as this the beach had many pools and swimming pool bars where you could go during the day, sitting actually in the swimming pool with a drink looking over Chaweng Beach and watching day turn into night! Pure bliss!
One of the last nights on Koh Samui played host to the introduction of inflatable Dave.... One of the guys went
to get something from the supermarket and returned with a large inflatable Alien who we named Dave. His charisma shone through and we decided to take him out with us on a night out. He obviously appreciated our friendship and was an instant hit with the ladies, however little be known to us that it was to be his downfall! We were walking down the street when suddenly a random thai lady jumped out to grab our newfound superstar and within in an instant, unbeknown to us she bit him! It was slow and painful as we watched our once great alien slowly deflate but we decided we needed to give him a good sendoff. It was there we decided in the middle of a busy Samui road that what Dave really needed was his own funeral. We all gathered around, about 8 of us i think, however, the memory is slightly blurred from the trauma. So there we were with Dave lying as flat as a pancake but very peacefully im hacent to add in the middle of the street. We all said our words and finally let go of our once great friend, superstar and most of all
leader! It was emotional but all i can say is that thai lady let us down, she let koh samui down but most of all she let Dave down. Unthinkable!
(The story is probably as random as the night itself! It was very amusing!)
All in all the surroundings Koh Samui had to offer were amazing and we all seemed to agree that we could have happily spent a small while there. However with the end to our travels drawing near it was on to Bangkok for the last 4-5 days!
