The setting
How nice is this?!?! Okay, so we flew to Koh Samui for Aris and Erica's wedding, and let me say, it was honestly the best, most beautiful, amazing, cultural wedding we've ever been to.
We were picked up late arvo and driven to our secret destination. It was a secluded beach (by the way, just so you know, i've had a few too many drinks tonight, and i'm typing this at around 1am thai time, 4.30am Aus time, so my eyes arent really open and i cant be bothered fixing spelling mistakes AND, i already typed this about 10 hours ago and somehow lost it, so i'm annoyed at having to do it again.)
So anyway... where was I???? oh yeah secluded beach.... they had traditional thai dancing and drums, while the vowels took place on the sand, with the sunset in the background. Then, all couples lit and let go of lanterns that floated out over the sea. Then, in true thai style they let off 10million fireworks. Then, oh the speeches were so good, had everyone in tears...speaking of tears, the thai dinner, whoa, that was hot, lots of tears and sweating, provided entertainment. Then, 2 kiwis did the Haka (no idea how
to spell that, but i think you know what i mean)...FYI; Aris is from Holland, Erica is from NZ, they married in Thailand cos it was about half way between two countries. So, we drank out of coconuts and danced the night away under the stars. Even Mick, who is a guy, incase you hadnt noticed, said the wedding was a highlight, and something he'd never forget, he couldnt stop saying 'amazing'.
Um, what else did we do..... we did a day tour the day after the wedding and saw, some temples, a waterfall and a dead (mummified) monk, that was cool. Also had an awesome $2 meal in the jungle, yummy.
Went to the Samui ice bar last night, basically same as sweden, only, we went in wearing shorts, tshirt and thongs, instead of warm winter clothes, so even though we had these giant coats and hats to put on, our toes were frozen. We lasted about 15 minutes in the -7c degrees.
Tonight, we're back in phuket (patong) and just watched a band with some mates at a club. The fuse box caught fire and filled the place with smoke and the lights went out, but we werent
Posers
scrub up alright??? evacuated, the party went on....hahaha, those thais dont worry about anything. funny funny.... we lived, so why worry?!?! Plus, the thai's have a saying when things go wrong....dont blame us, cos if you werent here it wouldnt have happened. It usually applies to moped crashes.
Think thats about it really. What more can i say, this place rocks.
Oh, wait, forgot about one of the other attractions we saw... grandfather and grandmother rock. Ok, grandfather rock looks like a.....well, we prefer to call it 'cock-rock' so...you get my drift??? grandmother rock looks like, well, actually its surprisingly...um, should i put the photo up??? is this pg rated??? i'll put it up, you decide for yourself. Whoever discovered these rocks and decided to prmote them as a tourist attraction is a dirty perv....good on em.
Ciao for now x
crap camera battery has gone flat. will put photos on in the morn. nighty night xx
