We had the most fantastic time in Koh Phi Phi, so much so we didn't want to leave!!
There are literally no roads so you have to walk from the pier to wherever you are going, the guys from the hotels walk along with little karts to take your bags on, and if you want to go anywhere that's any distance you basically have to hop on a long tailed boat!
Our hotel was great in camparison to some of the dives we've been (namely koh samui), it had a really nice pool right next to the beach. The scenery is just amazing huge green mountains and hills and torquoise water with white sand.
There are heaps of bars and restaurants to choose from on the main beach area, some of our favourites were Reggae Bar, for free muoy Thai boxing, they let anybody fight for a free bucket of sang som before the main fight. One night Craig, after a few buckets decided to have a go...he's still nursing the bruises a week on, it's not for the faint hearted!!but at least he got a draw!! We also loved Apache Bar, for a good old dance (although
it's on split levels and easy to fall overboard after a bucket or 2!!) Me and Vic also watched the lady boy show there, which was hillarious, they mime to pop songs but don't know any of the words so just move their mouth and hope for the best!! One of them asked Vic to meet her in the toilets, Vic was like...eh maybe later!!haha!! Got some funny photo's on Vic's disposable camera! After Apache closed we normally headed to hippie bar which stays open as long as there are still people there, we never left til 10am one morning!
On our last full day Vic and I went on a snorkel and kayak trip which takes you to all the bays and islands around about, which for me was the highlight of our time there, the places they take you are really amazing, we went to THE Beach from the film which is like a tourist mecca and totally spoilt by the amount of people but you have to see it i guess!! to get there we had to snorkel through this tiny hole in the cliff face, you have to wait for a wave to push you
up a ledge, and then you have to walk over super sharp rocks, we were like, we signed up for a gentle snorkel trip not an all adventure tour!! We also went to Bamboo Island which is the most amazing place i've ever seen, we've seen some nice beaches but this beats them all, jumped off the boat and snorkelled into shore, where the coral is amazing, the sand is like white powder and the water is crystal clear, you could have stranded me there and i'd be quite happy!! Our last stop on the trip was Monkey Beach, which is literally covered with heaps of monkeys, we did a bit of kayaking then snorkelled into the beach, again, slice your feets on the rocks to get there but great to see the monkeys!
After our snorkel trip, we literally stepped off the boat and bumped into Andy our buddy from BANS diving in Koh Tao, it was so great to see him again so we arranged to meet up with him and his friend Johnny to go out later, met them in Apache and had a great night, and as it turns out Andy's friend Johnny is the drummer from the band the Streets!! Both Andy and Johnny will be in Sydney when we are so it will be great to see them again! We also made great friends with the English Girls who stayed in our hotel, they are equally as loopy as us and out for a great time!! Andy stayed in Koh Phi Phi whilst the 4 of us, Johnny and the girls have moved on to Phuket. It's back to the busy streets and beaches but we're loving it here so far...more about that in my next blog, I've got some sunbathing to get on with!!
I'll get photo's uploaded later, Vic forgot to give me the CD so when i get it i'll get some good one's uploaded ASAP I promise!
Final note, I HAVE GOT A NEW CAMERA!!!! I am the happiest girl in the world, my arm feels like it has been reattached, and i am back to my snap happy self again!!
Love to you all
