We arrived at Phuket and headed to Patong Beach, which is a massive holiday resort full of Europeans. We had a week before Mark (Kerry's brother) arrived and although Patong was double the price for a room then Phuket Town, Patong had everything that anyone would need for a relaxing week. We spent time at the beach sunbathing and swimming, walking around seeking cheap food and even an interesting trip to the hospital at 5am due to an ear infection that Kerry got. All is well now after a course of antibiotics and no swimming.
Mark spent a night in Bangkok, where he was robbed of 2000 Baht (£40) by an Englishman before he flew to Phuket where Kerry picked him up. We had already booked three trips before Mark arrived and decided it would be funny and more interesting for him if we didn't tell him what he'd be doing for the first week of his trip. The first night Mark took us out for something to eat and then for drinks after. We had a really fun night that ended with Matt and Mark going for a swim in the sea at 1am!
We headed to Phuket
Zoo where we seen an Elephant show which included dancing, playing football and various other things, Mark volunteered and got sat on by one of the Elephants which was so funny. We also got to see a Monkey and a Crocodile show, which was pretty intence as a man put his head inside the crocs mouth! All three of us got pictures taken with a massive Tiger which was unbelievable.
The next day we did a boat trip to the Phi Phi Islands, we went to Maya bay which is where the film 'The Beach' was filmed, an unbelievable place but because everyone wants to go there, there were so many people. Matt and Mark went snorkelling around parts of the island and got some great under water photos of all the beautifully coloured fish. By the end of the trip Mark looked like a bright red tomato ha ha.
We left Phuket the following day on our third trip which was to the national park Khao Sok. We headed to a monkey cave, where Mark was attacked (because he had the bag of food) by loads of monkeys! The cave was at the bottom of a cliff
and there was hundreds of monkeys that came swinging down at once to get fed from all the tourists. We then went Elephant trekking to a waterfall through the forest. Matt and Mark even sat on the front of the elephant for part of the trip. We had lunch and fed a piece of chocolate to a very cute gibbon who thoroughly enjoyed it. Matt and Mark did a small 200m flying fox before we took a long tail boat across the beautiful lake to the floating guesthouse where we were spending the night. We went swimming in the late and went out in a canoe before going on a night safari (we didn't see anything, but enjoyed it all the same). Up early again the next morning and went sight seeing around the lake by long tail boat. We went into a bat cave to see the stalagmites and stalatights, Kerry did make it half way in before she got a little scared and turned around but Matt and Mark went right the way in.
We took a bus to Surat Thani after the Khao Sok trip and then spent the night on a slow ferry to Kho
Phangan where we're spending the rest of Mark's trip, bring on the full moon party.
Sending Love
Matt and Kerry (and Mark)
