Sunset on the beach with a game of volley ball After a blissful week on the beach at Samui, we decided to head over to Ko Pha -Ngan to try and find something a little more mellow and maybe not so expensive. Koh Samui was proving hard work on $100And a day but we always new that would be the case. It was 16 years since I had been to Samui and the changes were incredible. A lovely spot still but probably not we are looking for in Thailand. We had met a nice guy in Otres Beach in Cambodia that had told us about a great bay in Koh Phangan. We had always planned to stay on the island but had in mind to stay at a different bay. Chris raved about a bay called Haad Yuan that is on the east coast and really just around the bay from Haad Rin. He told us about some bungalows called Barcelona so we headed off from Maenam beach on a small ferry boat that put in at Haad Rin and Haad Tien. We got off at Haad Tien and had to walk up a hill over the headland to Haad Yuan. This area is gorgeous and pretty quiet at this time

From Bamboo at Haad Yuan of the year even though the weather is still great. We had rung Barcelona and they had a bungalow for us up on the hillside for 600 Bt a night. Great price and amazing view but very basic. I was worried about mozzies as they love Tane and I live in fear of Dengue but nets over the bed kept them away but made it too hot for us. I would have loved this place in my 20's but was looking for a bit more comfort. Big Blue down on the beach have some great 2 bedroom VIP bungalows for 1000 Bt a night and these are awesome so after 2 nights at Barcelona we moved down. Fabulous rooms, 2 bathrooms, upstairs balcony overlooking bay. Haad Yuan is amazingly beautiful. I really shouldn't be saying it because we don't want too many to know. There are little wooden pathways that connect the bungalows that are built into the large boulders that surround the edges of this bay. Very Robinson Crusoe. Some great food available at Big Blue and Bamboo Huts. Bamboo Huts has a restaurant up on the rocks with incredible food and views. Lots of people here on yoga

Tane and the crazy lorikeet called Gel and wellness retreats and there is also a well known Muay Thai boxing camp in the next bay.
We are just swimming everyday in crystal clear water, snorkeling, eating, and reading. If you need some down time from a hectic life , this is the place. Lyndon has been joining the nightly beach volley ball game that fires up each afternoon around 5pm and then we head off for dinner. Kids are having a blast as the staff are super nice to them and they have a pet parrot called El that loves to land on Tane. Did a snorkeling and bay trip yesterday with a tour called Munchies. I kind of figured with a name like that !!!!! Went to lots of bays up the east coast and then snorkeling. A great way to look at other bays but we still feel that where we are s the nicest. We have decided to stay until the 9th and then make the trek across to Phuket. Sounds like it will be a bit of a marathon but can't be avoided.
