Teaching our first class
Rob and I were able to team teach which was great! Here the fourth graders were learning the body parts, English vocab, followed by a game, which they appeared to enjoy. This is the English classroom where we will teach grades 1-6 everyday. It was built through donations through the Swiss Fund, about 3 years ago. A very nice classroom!! Today we had our first day of teaching! YEAH! The students said, "good morning teacher!" We taught third grade English, fourth grade English and computer, and first grade computer. The kids are great! Very kind and gentle and listened very well to us! They appeared to enjoy the learning games in their English class and responded well to us. They love competition!! There is a Tsumani center here at the school, which is a small two-story building which is very nice. When we arrived there was no A/C, no internet working, and about 5/15 computers working! We had our work cut out for us, as we wanted to have more computers working for the large class of 25 first graders. We worked for about 1 hour between classes on this computer room and ended up with about a total of 9 computers working (little did we know we were computer technicians!!) and internet to 5 computers, and A/C working! WOW! Very productive! After our school day, we went to the beach, and enjoyed the greatest massage ever, laying under a thatched roof hut overlooking the beautiful turquoise water, with a slight sea breeze..........AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Very relaxing! Mello yellow! We both got a
Our first class
Here are the fourth graders!! Very cute and friendly! massage at the same time, 1 hour total, for a total of 400 Baht, which is equivalent to $12 US. WOW! YEAH!! AMAZING!! Wish you were, huh?!?! hehhe!! Then went for a walk down the beach and saw the monkeys! Lots of monkeys, around 30, very friendly! Eat right out of your hand! Watched beautiful sunset, rented motor bike, and enjoyed dinner with new friends:Timo-a volunteer from Germany, Anuk-a volunteer from Belgium, Mandy-a traveler now, but hoping to volunteer, from Australia, Yai and Ded-both native Thais. (don't worry Lori, I haven't found a Rori!!) It was a fabulous dinner, Pad Thai with chicken and we enjoyed the international company, which is quite amazing!! We have met many wonderful, friendly, funny, kind friends here and look forward to more of the journey. Hope this finds everyone doing well! Talk to you all soon!
