El tubing
this is much harder than it looks... NOT. O.k so yes we have survived the rainforest not that there was much to survive, it was a bit like a holiday resort in the middle of the rainforest. we stayed in these house's on stilts up amongst the trees and had the best views. getting there in the first place wasn't so bad either the 12 hour train ride was actually pretty cool, firstly the seats are about twice as wide as british train seats, so my fat ass fit into it with room to spare, then there are only four people in a section so theres loads of space there. the seats then fold down into a bed and another bed pulls down from the wall and makes it like bunk beds on the train, so was very comfortable. i didn't actually get any sleep but its helped out with my jet lag. We got off the train round 6 in the morning and had breakfast right next to the station (they make the best scrambled eggs over here) before getting a songthew (a pickup truck with seats in the back) to the place we were staying. the views you get in southen thailand are breath taking, each one
as stunning as the last, i can't help just walking around with my mouth open all the time. the first afternoon was a farly sedate affair with the whole group going tubing, this is so much fun you just sit you ass in a truck tyres innertube and float down the river for an hour or so, was really funny watchin El flip her one over and get dumped in to the water, her little legs flaying around in the air. i found it hilarious but don't think she really saw the funny side of it. the next morning we awoke early to go on an elephant trek, so cool but also quite scary in places, the little seats that you sit on are only tied on with rope and when the elephant went up or down a hill the whole thing moved and felt like it ws gonna fall off, add to that mine and Els combined weight ( we're not the most slender of people) i thought that we'd snap the rope. Got lots of nice photos of the elephants tho. that afternoon we went on a walk to cave temple not that far but meant crossing a
two giant beasts and an elephant
this elephant was named gizmo the great. obviously not his real name, but the one el gave him. not sure he really liked it. river and going across an indiana jones style rope bridge, very rickety, the temple was quite good we started going down into the caves when the guides torch started running out of batteries and we all had to make a very quick exit before we got stuck in the dark. the best bit of that trip tho were the monkeys around the temple who were very obliging in sitting for photos for us, they loved it, sitting posing right in frount of us ( yes ant i have a photo of a monkey for you). this is the point in the trip where i get my first bout of dehli belly, spewing forth from all orifaces, didn't really hurt just uncomfortable, and a real pain given that the next morning i had to contend with a 2 hour mini-bus ride to the beach side town of Ao-nang in the Krabi province, took some of els super strengh imodium and that got me through the day to the hotel. This place looks likes those little cartoons ideas of paradise, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, palm trees and little green islands dotted around not far from shore. needless to say it
MONKEY
there was no chese in sight but that because i think they ate it all! wasn't long before we were stretched out on the beach soaking up the sun, so good just laid there all afternoon before going back and getting an early night. well sort of while El went to get some dinner i didn't want to travel to far from a toilet so stayed in and watched the premiership highlights then found the tottenham blackburn game on the satterlite. (that was never a sending off)
Today we've been out and about on a speed boat going on a tour of the local islands, each more beautifal than the last, this involved lots more sunbathing and some snorkeling. i love snorkelling, and with my new waterproof digital camera (thank mum + dad) got lots of photos of fish around the rocks and coral, the highlight being the photo i have of nemo (spent ages getting this for you dylan). The only downside to the day being that El has caught whatever it is that i had and is now laid up in bed, she'll be fine, just means we won't be going anywhere for awhile can't complain tho she stayed in and nursed me back to health.
so thats been our last
Nemo
