our regular lil breakie place We had a lazy start to the day, both of us in holiday mode, and both of us feeling the effects of the flights getting to Thailand. Great news was that we had wifi in our rooms. We found a cheap breakfast place and Rach had bagels and I had a strawberry pancake, both extremely cheap, and tasty...and just minutes from our accommodation. After much discussion, we decided to have an hour by the pool before we started on any adventures. We went for a swim in the VERY cold pool, but very refreshing.
To find a tuk tuk was next on our list, and we found one easily, with a very friendly driver, who was happy to negotiate his original asking price. The roads in the middle of chiangmai are ring roads, making it tricky to get from one place to another, but our tuktuk drive took of speedily, weaving in and out of the motorbikes and cars. It was a great way to get around, once we got used to the fact that there are almost no road rules! We arrived at the tailor, armed with the tee shirt, sundress and shorts I wanted copies of...only
to fin d that they don’t sew stretch fabric, and so it was a wasted journey...altho not entirely wasted as we did have a fun tuktuk ride.
Next stop...the dentist! Our tuktuk driver managed to get us there in one piece, despite peak hour traffic...motorbikes everywhere, often with 3 or 4 people on one motorbike, almost no helmets in site! Both Rach and I had our teeth cleaned...they put a piece of cloth over your entire face and there is just a hole for the mouth, weird feeling. I was gutted because he discovered 2 fillings and a cracked tooth that he thinks needs to be capped. More money. Should have got it done while we were here in Thailand, as it’s so much cheaper, but didn’t want to waste another day sitting in the dentist. While we waited we met a nice man from Vienna University, who was doing his thesis on people who get dental work done in Thailand, so we made him happy by filling out his questionnaires. By the time we left the dentist, we had missed the massage we had booked. Fortunately it was not with our lovely ladies. As soon as we caught

our first tuk tuk experience the tuktuk back we found another massage place and they were able to take us. Quite a different experience, the two women kept chatting the entire time, Rach’s curtain was partially open the whole time so everyone could see her half naked body, and the quality was very average and that’s being kind!) Mind you it did only cost about $10! Tomorrow we will try and go back with our lovely ladies from yesterday. Thai dinner at a random little shop was last, and we drifted back home a little after 10pm to plan our next couple of days here in chiangmai.
