This is what we rode in up to Doi Sutep
We arrived by train from Bangkok at 6 am Sunday morning. This was the moment of truth to see if Benny and Kris were really "taken" on their tuk tuk ride in Bangkok. Auspiciously enough, a driver from the Winner Hotel (the accomodations Kris and Benny arranged) was there to pick us up and take us to our new headquarters.

We couldn't check in as it was still early so we headed out in search of the Chiang Mai branch chapel. This is when auspiciousness became miraculous. We had prayed earlier to be able to find the church, but couldn't find it listed in any directories or on any maps. We asked several locals and no one knew where the church was. A little downhearted, we walked toward the TAT (Tourist Authority of Thailand) and along the way met a tuk tuk driver. She asked us where we were going, and despite our suspicions, we asked if she knew where the church was. She had never heard of the church. We then asked her if she had ever seen the missionaries that ride bikes, and to our surprise she said she had gone to church with them before and explained

We shared our Song Theow with 5 or 6 bags of garlic and produce.
how to get there.

We were grateful to join with the saints of the Northern Thailand District in a district meeting presided over by area authority seventy, Elder Jackson from India. The Spirit was there and we enjoyed the talks and songs.

We then found a local restaurant in a nearby neighborhood and made pigs of ourselves for less than $5 - about $1.50 per pig. After lunch we went back to the hotel by walking around the wall and moat of the old city. After a nice nap, and scripture study, we headed out to the night market and looked for fun things to buy when we returned on Monday. Then we went home and Benny fell asleep within 30 seconds of laying down.
