After 12 long hours on a train w arrived in Chaing Mai. After lugging our backpacks round loads of dingy hostyels we have found another lovely one. This even has air con, TV and hot showers for just three pounds each a night... we love it and have booked 3 nights

We are off on tour to highest peak in Thailand tomorrow and then to waterfalls and to meet a hilltribe. There are loads of tours like that here ... cant wait. and this one involves no proper walking. we can even bring flip flops hehe

We went on a nice trip down river on last day in Bangkok. Saw lots of very poor houses on stilts... and a dead dog! But moving on... it's realy amazing to see. Peole selling things sail from house to house and even pulled up our boat to sel things! Bangkok is all about the sell... it was nice to move on.

Chiang Mai is an old city with city walls like York and easier to get around. We had a Thai massage today- she was a big rough with me! Think have bruises hehe, but kim enjoyed hers. The we went round the famous temples. Really beautiful but they had preserved monks in sitiing position. thought they were alive at first and just sitting v still but then we saw they looked a bit waxy. Think they must have been important monks.

Wednesday we hope to go to Elephant Conservation Centre and then get overnight train to Bangkok whre will connect straight to Kanchanburi- Bridge over River Kwai.
