We woke up and smashed a nice breakfast at that Bamboo place with bacon, eggs, toast, sausage etc. We then thought it would be a great idea to rent motorbikes for the day and go check out some of the temples in the mountains. For only about $6 AUD we got a bike and insurance (most likely will need this puppy) and we set off, having little idea of how to drive the bikes or where we were going. It's funny that they show you where the accelerator is but not the road rules. We soon worked it out after running 3 red lights - THERE ARE NO RULES. I was pretty much scared the whole time while we were driving in the city but i soon got used to it. We took a couple of wrong turns but finally made it out of town and started our descent, while stopping at waterfalls to take some photos. The group split up pretty much straight away but we managed to meet up (how does this keep happening!!) at a major market near a temple (i didn't pay much attention to any names!!). We had a quick lunch there and then headed up

Enough said. These are probably a bit crapper than the ones in WA, but whatever.
the steps (about 306 i think) to the top of the temple. It was pretty cool up there, lots of gold shiny things but plently of tourists as well. Of cource, after this we definitely wanted to get to the top of the mountains (pretty much as far as the road would go).

The road went from dual carraige-way to single lane to single road to dirt track pretty quickly. After stopping off briefly, the others headed up the hill while i stayed and checked out the view of a little town from the lookout. It would have been a lot nicer if there wasn't as much smog but it was still quite breathtaking. With nothing much more to report, the guys met me back at the spot and we started our descent. It was long, winding and getting pretty dark. Every now and then some maniac would fang it past us with no headlights on - quite amusing. We managed to get geographically embarrassed on the way back to the hostel. Using arno and alex's keen navigation skills and milney's 50 cent compass he picked up, we arrived safely home. Just having a few beers now while in

There are loads of little temples on the way up the mountains. Some stuff has a 100 baht charge to enter - so didn't!
the internet cafe and gunna check out the night markets for some shopping (my bag's already silly heavy). It's dan's (flower's) turn for free drinks tonight as he managed to complete his task on the plane to Chiang Mai. The airline hostess kept walking past so he put down his tray table and his seat back with the seat-belt undone. Hope everyone has a fantastic christmas!!
