Arriving Chiang Mai

Arrived in Chiang Mai via overnight train from Bangkok at 1:45pm; a 16-hour journey and almost 2hr late. Lori and Tom were at the station waiting for me. Caught a songthaow bus to the Little Home Guesthouse, a fan room w/bath for 300Bhat (app.$9). Arranged to meet Lori & Tom at 5:30pm at the 'Bierstube', a bar across from the Tha Phe Gate.

We visited at the Bierstube for an hour or so before heading down the soi near Lori & Tom's condo, for dinner at 'Mom's' a hole-in-the-wall Indian shophouse-style cafe. 'Mom' made excellent meal of curry-chicken, etc.! Went up to the condo to see where Lori & Tom lived, app. 500sq.ft. studio, then we all came back down to their soi to the nearby 'Oasis Bar' for another hour.
