Free Day

Jan 23^rd,

Today, we were given a free day until our farewell party in the evening. We chose to spend the day relaxing after a very busy few weeks. The morning started with our request to have brunch at 10:00am instead of having to wake up early to breakfast like we usually do. After brunch, we got our suits on and headed back to the lake for the afternoon since we had such a nice time the day before. We got there and laid out on the grass and spent the afternoon talking, reading, and drinking smoothies. We also got lucky enough to stumble upon a litter of the most adorable puppies.

When we got back to campus to get ready for the farewell party, we realized we had ALL overdone it on the sun. Oops.

The farewell party was located at a place called Green Lake Resort, and it was absolutely beautiful. Our party was located out back underneath beautifully strung lights that looked out onto what I’m assuming is Green Lake. The weather was perfect, and we arrived just in time to watch the sunset. As the sun went down, we sat down for dinner with our Thai buddies, Messiah professors, and Thai leaders. It was so great to have everyone together for our last night and share plenty of laughter and plenty of tears… especially when we were watching all of the farewell videos. We danced and sang the night away until the workers at the resort told us to leave.

Being there in such a beautiful place with such beautiful people made me reflect back on the past couple weeks and think about how overwhelmingly blessed I am. I’m so thankful The Lord provided the opportunity financial means for this trip and nudged me to face some fears and travel across the world to one of the most amazing countries. This truly was a once in a lifetime experience.
