Fun times in Chiang Mai, North Thailand...Oh Yes!!
After three weeks in the south of Thailand getting our tan on, buying way to many gorgeous clothes for two girls supposedly "roughing it!" and lazing around reading books we were reading for a bit of adventure...and 36 hours (on a bus!!) later we were in the B.M.P. Resident in Chiang Mai.
DAY ONE...Happy Birthday Livvy!!!...25 today so we had a day of fun, chocolate for breakfast!, a day of exploring around beautiful Chiang Mai then two b'day cakes in the evening (one from Em and one from our hostel)....Livvy also gave the whole hostel a special treat singing "Wonderwall" kareoke...
DAY TWO - FOUR...Trekking to the hill tribe villages...this was the most fun that we have had yet...beautiful blue skies and sunshine watched over us as we hiked for three days visiting different villages in the hill country. With our crew of two guides "Mr Ken" and "Moo Moo", plus the two lovely german girls Silke and Maree, Meg and Tom from England and the hillarious Frank from France (limited english...too much for the rest of us!)...we showered under waterwalls, played cards by candlelight, listened to the Karen hill-tribe people
Birthday girl LivvyNot quite looking her best...but fun EARLY morning treats from Em...ready for the best thai birthday ever!!!
(and Moo Moo) singing thai pop songs with guitars, slept in bamboo huts and ate the most amazing thai cuisine!! Its was sooo fun and we loved our group!! On the last day we rode on elephants and floated down a river on bamboo rafts...no one stayed on the rafts for more than 5 minutes - a little bit of friendly chaos.
DAY FIVE - SEVEN...We spent hanging out with our trekking crew and enjoying Chiang Mai, our hostel threw a 10th anniversary party the night after we returned from trekking which was great fun!!..plus we found the night bazaar....ooooh and the shopping began again...eeek.
QUOTES OF NORTH THAILAND...
Livvy, trying to get the hang of "squatting"
"Eeeew gross, I just missed the bowl and peed on my foot!"
Emma, loving all creepy-crawlies great and small
"Livvy, what did you just brush off my arm!!?"
(Liv: "oh just two giants ants who were mating...")
"Oooh, I feel violated, Im a cheap motel!"
NEXT STOP...Laos
