May in Bangkok Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. It is very Asian. Outside of the tourist center, KhaoSan Rd., and the tourist sites, I don’t see many white faces or hear English. Thailand has its own alphabet that is a curvy script so I can’t read any of the signs either. I think it would be scary to be lost in Bangkok, but luckily I know how to read a map. Bangkok reflections
The pictures and summary of Bangkok is most interesting. I'm glad you are taking pictures of street vendors and restaurants as well as the buddhas and other more historical objects!

Love that tingly feeling!
So fun to share your experiences. Oh yea, May, I know that totally alive feeling of taking in the exotic in a new place. I just love the totally mundane, the inane and the range of smells and tastes. In Japan and Kenya last year I travelled with kids for the first time in a while, and I walked around in a world of my own. Soaking in everything. Such soul food. Sisters at heart. Glad it is going well.

Bangkok
Bangkiok sounds like such an interesting city! Hope your stomachs adjust so you can enjoy some of that unique food! The market areas sound fun. Quite perceptive about the foreigners on the Khao San Road! Love, Louisa and Paul

Bangkok
I can't imagine what it must be like to walk around the streets of Bangkok. Your pictures are awesome. I am especially fascinated by the stupas. They are exquisite. Do you go inside of them or are they just for decoration? Is their rice at all like our risottas or is it just regular cooked rice? I could live on rice and chicken so the food would not be a problem for me. Have a wonderful time. Thanks for keeping in touch. Love, Doris
