Bangkok, right before the storm
The storm was, at this moment, just beginning to brew.It's been one type of weather here - mind blowingly hot - until yesterday, when in a matter of minutes Bangkok showed me why this is called 'monsoon season'.
It all started out like a seemingly normal day (the aformentioned mind blowing hotness). However, Bangkok is a tricky city, and apparently had other plans. Some of you may wonder if this demands an entire blog post - let me assure you, this was no ordinary storm. To explain, let's say that rain in new york is like a shower. Make it a shower with high water pressure if you want, I don't care. Now in this senario, rain in bangkok would be akin to mother nature putting a bucket full of water on top of mankind's metaphorical door, and then man, being the poor sap he is, walks in totally unaware of mother nature's machinations, and finds himself entirely soaked (mother nature only deals in very large buckets, which accounts for the total soakage).
Some of you perhaps are thinking there is a take home message in this post - to bring an umbrella to Bangkok if you ever visit during monsoon season. This would be the worst thing
Rain!
Rain! to take away from the post. Umbrellas are useless. The rain laughs at umbrellas, and then blows them inside out. So, as you can see, there is no take away message. Not even a little one, or even a feel good story. Maybe next time.
