On our first free weekend, we went to Khaosan Rd, which is what they call the "backpackers ghetto". Its a market during the day, and turns into a big party spot at night. We stayed in really nice hostel down there Friday night, and we had a really good time. This weekend was the Chinese New Year, so we then walked to Chinatown the next morning, which unfortunately, was much much farther then we thought! We got to Chinatown, and got a hotel for the night right downtown near the action. We stayed Saturday night, thinking the festivities would begin on Sunday, but we unfortunately found out that they don't celebrate Chinese New Year until Monday or Tuesday, so we missed everything!!!! Ah oh well! We ended up going to this very nice rooftop bar on Saturday night that was on the 25th floor overlooking the whole city, and it was truly breathtaking! It is a really great way to take in the city! So although we didn't get to see the Chinese New Year, enjoy the pictures I took of the setup!
