We have been in thailand for a few days and have visited so many super temples and seen some amazing sights its been crazy so the update.... our flight to Singapore was really nice the plane was new and really comfy the food was really good also though due to the unfortunate state of our bellies and the turbulance we/ i struggled a little and was a little unwell, oops though made it to the washroom luckly for the stewardess who helped me. anyway Singapore airport was ok we arrived at 7am our flight out was at 3.50pm so we mooched fell asleep and played cards and then i spoke to the guy at the check in desk he said we could have changed our flights to the earlier flight if we had wanted though the flight left two minutes ago.... back to the deck of cards, we finally checked in and our luggage was slightly to heavy so we could unpack and put something in hand luggage of pay we opted to pay though wish we had done the other as it cost 96 spd thats quite a lot really anyway we decided its henrys gadgets for his ipod lol
and my smellies. anyway flight to bangkok was with air asia and was very small very old and let me just warn all though travellers out there dont sit by the emergency exit no matter how tempting it is when you see the plane as they use your lap to store all the flight details and the chairs do not move so you are sitting in a weird shape for 3 hours with a load of papers in a different language to read lol
BANGKOk- the streets were buzzing the people are friendly the guest house is lovely and very clean, we got in to the g/h at about 7 and went out after showering to a little restaurant on the main road it was lovely. 12/7/08 When we got up we had some cereal and went out on a tuk tuk sight seeing we saw a large standing budda the largest one that stands and the lucky budda and a couple of taylor shops lol the tuk tuk driver gets money when he takes us to them so as we were being lazy we went along with it as he said he would charge us a very small amount
for the tour and the taylors when we got dropped off he told us he wanted more but we only gave him the said amount.. that will teach him once again the tuk tuks are the same as india though a lot cleaner...
We got back to the g/h and then went out to a beruit restaurant with colin and celine who are staying at the g/h too and are from Ireland, the food was great we then went to the irish bar near the red light district and the markets this was really COLOURFUL....
13/7/08 we spent the day visiting all the sites in and around bangkok including the grand palace, the emerald budda, and a relaxing boat trip along the river, we saw baby crocs and alot of wildlife and people swimming. we went to the super market and bought food to cook for dinner. as well as booking a couple of trips for the next few days.
14/7/08 the day has been crazy we went at 6am to kosan road to get a bus tour to A this is the old capital city, it has many beautiful temples and ancient temples, many of these have been destroyed
by the burmese and the buddas heads/ arms etc removed the ancient city was truelly beautiful.
happy birthday mum and grandad we spent the evening talking with them on the internet and neno naomi grace and matthewit was really nice. we cooked noodles and veg tonight.
15/7/08 we got up early again to go to kosan road again for a full day tour starting with the war cemetery with many british soldiers buried here the cemetery was really well looked after and well maintained. we then went on to the bridge over the river kwai we walked across the bridge to the other side and back the bridge was really quite old and there was no security to prevent falling just a sign stating no responsiblity will be held in the case of falling or injury, bit worrying considering the path is narrow for one way but is two way and if you pass someone you have to step out of the way onto the old wooden sides.... we then took a train ride along the death railway line it was very steep and on the edge of the cliff most of the way though very beautiful as its mountain
area and the views are breathtaking. we then went for lunch in a little tavern just us and the driver of our new transport its the country version of the tuk tuk its a 4 wheeled pickup with two long seats in the back it was so cool as we had split from the others as our day was busier and we had different things to do it was just us. the tavern was lovely with lizards running around the walls/floor everywhere (ps we have these at the g/h too in the evening they come out and are everywhere) we then went to the tiger temple were the tigers have been rescued this was really nice though the tigers slept alot the cubs were very active though. we then went back in the pickup and drove about 45 minutes to the elephant farm were we rode the elephants along the banks of the river then we changed and then rode them back to the river bare back and bathed with them it was so much fun the elephant was called moon shine in english and was very funny as kept spraying us with water. her keeper had riden her for
6 years and his dad before that she was 36 years old this is quite young still, the oldest elephant was 96 she was the great great grandmother we saw her to she was really well looked after and was busy eating pineapples and bananas in a big open area. we got the pickup back to the mini bus then and headed back to bangkok we chatted to some isrealli people and then went to the g/h. we then went to the local restaurant and ate really well henry had seafood rolls and i had a very spicey hot thai green curry, we shared rice and noodles. the lemon juice is amazing its sharp and really refreshing yummy yummy.
