This classic bar on Suk 11 is a must see. Read about it in Lonely Planet
After our last week in Bangalore, India surviving Karl's illness, we were anticipating our flight to Bangkok. We had previously traveled to Thailand and absolutely loved it, so we were looking forward to not only it's friendly people, but the chance to indulge in it's culinary delights since India had so little to offer us and we had both lost weight. We considered this a plus to the whole debacle. We used Bangkok for luggage storage and as our home base as we traveled to nearby countries. We stayed near Khaosan Road, but far enough away from the gentrified location to enjoy Bangkok's culture and it's friendly people. We loved exploring the city and eating Pad Thai from the street vendors for 40 cents a piece. They made a mean mojito at a quaint set up bar on Rambutri Street for a buck. We spent the days planning our trip, visiting temples, doing laundry and managing to fit in some sight seeing. We went to Lumphini Park and watched the locals participate in group aerobics, which is quite a sight to see. Picture a very small Asian man in tight shorts jumping up and down to "Jump" by The Pointer Sisters. We had amazing sushi, Thai food, lots of Singha and the best barbque we've had since Florida. Unfortunately, we lost a lot of pictures from Thailand, when KT in her hurry to make space on the thumb drive, deleted a folder of some classic photos. That took a while to recover from. Thailand is a country we will most assuredly return to. We arrived February 8th and left April 6th, visiting Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in between.
