Standing on Kao San road with our new Aussie friends, Brendan and Katie. Party Time. Hello all...
So, we've changed our plans as of last email...dramatically! We're in Bangkok right now and living the crazy life here. We were planning on heading further south within Goa to Palolem (which was supposed to be the nicest beach India has to offer), however, after waking up and dreading the thought of hassling with more taxi drivers, more beggars, room boys, and altogether people trying to scam us, we went to the travel agency instead of the bus stop and booked a flight to Bangkok for the same day. We had a great time in Goa, and Benaulim was super relaxing that we ended up staying there for 7 nights. Nice water, nice sand, fantastic food. We also met some Russians, 2 girls about our age with their respective parents. They were awesome and the dad of one of the girls took care of mulitiple meals, taxi rides etc. Wednesday last week was ladies night all over Goa and so the whole group of us (including the parents), headed to Colva for some PARTY! After much haggling with the taxi drivers, a really nice Goan overheard us and offered to give us a lift for free, since
Sun tanning
Bella getting darker by the minute. he was heading there anyway. We listened to cheesy North American music, 80's and the Beatles. He had a great voice, and since Kris was sitting up in the front with him...there was Karaoke in the car.
The club (Club Cubana) was nothing like we've ever seen. A Huge mansion on top of this hill in Colva, it had music playing inside the main 'house area', and then outside there were 3 bars, filled to the max with people. The view overlooked all of Colva and on the bottom terrace of this land, there was a pool and lounge area set with tables, maharaja beds, sleepers. People were dancing everywhere and drinks were unlimited (as in free all night). Kris even decided to jump into the pool with yes, his speedos on. We didn't get the reaction we were hoping for, simply because the bouncer wouldn't let him do anything out of the ordinary. Nonetheless, the group of us, especially the girls' parents gotta kick out of it. All caught on film.
Izabela also had quite an episode in Benaulim. She decided to go for a walk in the village w/o Kris (first time) to look for something
coco hut
Our poor little wind-blown coco hut. Infested with mozzies, but nice and cozzies. to wear for the club that night. She went into the super market to get a drink and a bag of Lays and then went outside. Noticing there were some rickshaw drivers standing outside, she went up to one of them and asked him how much it would be to go to the next village over. This short, gawker, decides to reach his hand into my chips, which was close to my chest, and brushes his hand across my boobs. Without even thinking, I slapped him with as much force as my body could give. He almost fell to the ground in shock. Other rickshaw drivers came over and started lipping me off....and then I brought out the "Don't mess with me, or you'll mess with my boyfriend." Mentioning 6'7" sent the guy who just got slapped running as fast as he could, and the rest of the guys all moved away, including the guy who started lipping me off. I have never felt so revived. After all the staring and gawking and touching and all that crap that's happened to Kris over the last month, it felt good to slap one of them for crossing the line! I ran

240 V - 120 V to Cube Tap to I-pod charger/ razor charger/ video camera charger. Quite a contraption, eh?! back to the beach where Kris was lounging and of course, after telling him what had happened he wanted to go back to the village and find the guy and beat the shit out of him. We both knew that wouldn't be the best idea, so we left it at that.
So here we are. It's funtastic here! The moment we arrived onto Khao San Road, we felt this new energy that we were longing for but unfortunately weren't getting back in India. It was a great experience but to be honest, we're so glad we're out of there.
Bangkok is crazy. Kris relates the feel here a lot to Mexico's. Tons of tourists. Lots of parties. And the shopping is to die for. There are malls here just for electronics ...a whole Metrotown just for electronics. A whole floor just for cell phones within another mall. Gong-show. Everyone's happy and the bargaining is a completely different game. Last night we went to the 'red light' district of Bangkok, or rather an area that had a lot of 'ping pong' shows (not the table tennis match). Although we didn't go in and see it, we looked at many
The Russians
Sasha and her fun-loving, dance till they drop parents. lists: Pussy opening beer, Pussy shooting ping pong...etc. Sorry for the crude language, but that's what it's like. We also met a couple from Australia, Katie and Brendan, who have been traveling all around the world for the last year and who also worked for 5 months in Kelowna. Small world. We got drunk with them and shopped with them, got offered many ping pong shows, and got told to "f" off by numerous market vendors who found it insulting that we thought their prices were to high. Kris got told to go to hell, "f" off, and "I hate you" all be one woman who insisted that because he started bargaining with her, that it was only fair to buy this hat that he wanted. Since she came down to his price, after all the haggling, Kris said he would be back and started walking away. Then the curse words came out. SHE WAS MAD!! We all laughed cause in light of it all, we were in the middle of Bangkok, on a street where doors to go-go dancer bars were wide open so you could see clearly inside, and we had some Thai lady screaming at Kris.
GOOD
The RussiansII
Nastjia and her sweet, out-going parents. TIMES!
Later on last night, we sat down on Khoa San Road for some cocktail drinks and Kris decided (with the obvious encouragement from our Aussie friends and others around us)to dance in the middle of the street with nothing but his new hat, aviators, money belt and his almighty speedos. At first it was freakin hilarious, but then some drunk Aussies who were walking down the street started taunting him and one of the idiots kicked Kris in the balls (lightly). Kris then gave him a boot back and because a bad energy came over all of us, the Thai ladies serving us cocktails told Izabela to get Kris out of there and get him to put his clothes back on because he could get into a
lot of trouble with the police. The fighting would have led to trouble, but the speedos were fine. As soon as he got his clothes back on, Kris started running after the guy who kicked him. The guy tried to hug him as he was pleading sorry, and his friends all got in-between them. Kris insisted that they were not friends that hug. So, nothing happened. All remained cool.
That
The Perfect Bangkok Dinner
Pad Thai, Spring Rolls, and a bucket of red bull vodka! was pretty much it for yesterday. We've been eating off the street vendors. The food is great and very cheap. More so, the banana chocolate pancakes are to die for!!
We have no idea whether to go North or South next. A couple days will tell. But we hope you've enjoyed this email and thanks again for all your letters...super funny stuff.
Ciao for now,
Kris and Izabela
