Sunrise
The morning view today. No clouds unlike the last couple days. Last night, a little bit of soreness was setting in along with foot and leg cramps in the middle of the night. Always fun. The problem was once awake, there was no going back to sleep. Probably going to need a nap today. The more I was thinking about it last night, the more I think I’m going to pass on the afternoon workout today. That was a fault last trip, trying to do too much too soon. I’ll do some additional shopping and looking around this afternoon - maybe even go to the pool! This morning even the breakfast buffet, usually jumping at 6:00 is really quiet. I’m going to try and be a little more relaxed on my arrival time this morning. It looks like it’s going to be a nice day and shouldn’t have to rush to get the run in before the rain. Also saw that there are about 5 or 6 Starbucks on the BTS line to the gym. Looks like they’ve really expanded here, although there are even more independent coffee places everywhere you look. Not much else this morning, so time to head out.
I guess the lack of sleep really caught up
BTS inbound
Morning commute coming. They’ve added many more stops to the BTS in both directions, and added walkways over some of the streets. with me. Thought I would take a short nap, but it ended up being a couple hours, no trouble hitting the snooze on the phone! I did decide to skip the afternoon session today, which was a good idea. Not just because I needed the sleep, but had a pretty good morning session too. I don’t want to say the temperature is great, but this morning walking to the train, it actually felt like there was a cool breeze. A nice sunny day by the time I got to the gym, which was a little better on timing today. The trainers were there sweeping, so I dropped my bag and headed out for the 9 laps. It wasn’t as much “fun” as yesterday, but when is running really fun? I did see Santafaa this morning, and Jomhod came in a little later today. He Is fighting this weekend, so I still need to find out when/where and how to get there. so, standard run, and 10 minute jump rope, and glove up. The jump rope really got the sweat dripping today. It was still a quiet morning at the gym, with only one other person training today. Pad work was the standard pace and I got through the first round fairly well. Lots of double kicks, and my favorite machine gun punches. Ajahn is tweaking the way I throw the cross, trying to get more rotation for more power. And I still have some trouble with kicks and rotation due to the past hip surgery, but it’s getting better the more kicks I throw. The rounds ended today with 10 kicks for power, or 10 fast on each side. Those are the real killers, and today brought out a few nice bruises. So today’s ring session was 3 rounds ( I think?) of the normal punch, kick, knee, elbow, etc, and then followed up with one round of just boxing. Now that’s a good way to burn out the shoulders! Before moving on to 3 rounds on the bag, I got the normal rubdown and dousing with the ice cold water. That takes away any breath I had remaining. Bag work is bag work, nothing special. But with the gym so quiet, I do get more correction than ever, probably because I really need it. Still getting adjustments on punches, and then Ajahn grabbed some pads again, and we were back at boxing. Working hooks and uppercuts, and then the normal jab-cross-hook, or uppercut combos. To finish off the morning, it was a short weight session following Jomhod, and then 100 sit-ups to close out the morning. It was a nice slow walk back to the BTS, but overall didn't really feel too bad.
Nothing much happened later this evening. Just some walking around and shopping. Trying to stay awake so I can get on a better sleep pattern. Pretty much everything is kind of sore right now. A nice 8 hours would go a long way to make that right.
