About 12 hours on the overnight train to Bangkok of which we probably slept 2, very noisy train our one,but enjoyable scenery up to 8pm ish. Taxi to our "boutique' hotel, the Navalai for 3 nights. What a differance with noise etc.The royal palace and china town and travelling on the boat taxis were the highlights.
Then 1.5 hrs north by train to the ancient capital of thailand Ayuthaya.Stayed in an old teak schoolhouse run by two sisters, one was a bit forgetful lets say. Two nights running away from packs of dogs and getting our first real big thunderstorms. The city is steeped in history, we toured at night the temples by tuk-tuk.There is a moat that has to be crossed by ferry at the train station before entering town.
South again by train to Bangkok then change trains for Hua Hin which is about 3 hours further south on the east coast. A seaside resort but also home to the King in the nearby palace, not open to the public, sorry no pics.Stayed in a Thai guest house called Ban Somboon which was not central ,so quiet.
