We never seem to sleep in anywhere we go, we were up at 6am, showered and went for breakfast at 7.15. Today we are going on the High Speed Train to Taichung. We came here as we had a supplier to see, he messaged up last night saying he had a wedding to attend at lunchtime so if we could be there by 9.30am, there will be time.it takes 1hour by this train, stopping at about 5 stations along the way. We arrived on an earlier train, they run every few minutes. We were picked up and drove for another 40 minutes, nothing is closeby although they all say "it's close by!!"
This factory was close by to the factory called Giant, an global bicycle company, well over 2000 employees.
We arrived at our suppliers factory and had a tour around, very interesting. As we didn't have much time, we headed back to Taichung, we wandered around the train station, 3 times bigger than Adelaide Airport, bought some lunch then proceeded to buy our train tickets. It so easy to get from A to B if you know where that little English button is!!
Our journey back to Taipei, we
were not sitting together, I sat next to a girl going to a meeting in Taipei, she started talking to me and by the end of the journey, we had photos taken and hugs!! So many friendly people here. We arrived back to our room, we had 4 hours free until we were getting collected by our friends niece, "Singing", so we decided to catch another train to go to Longshan Temple, 5 stops and a change in line to get there. We came up from train to packed streets again, as it is a weekend, lots of people not working and they are out at the Temple too. We had a look around the Temple taking photos, then we wandered through many streets around the area, so many little streets lead to little markets, with alleys leading off them.
We spent about an hour looking around, and at about 5pm, we caught the train again back to the hotel as we needed to start getting ready to go out. We waited in the lobby at 6.30pm, and right on time, Singing and her boyfriend Sky arrived, we introduced ourselves then headed back to the train to go to Raohe Street
Night Market.
When we arrived, I think half of Taipei were there!! So many people!!
There was so many varieties of food here, clothing, shoes, phone accessories, everything!!
We met up with another relative of LaiFai's, this time her nephew Chin, his wife Lin and their children and we all dined at a little eating area at the market. We had no idea what they were ordering or what was even in the menu, all in Chinese!! Meals started arriving, and arriving, they kept coming!! We are shocked as to how much food is there, we had our meals and then there were many different varieties of vegetables too. We were so full, and once we got back out to the market, Singing asked if we wanted dessert!! No!!
Well she insisted we try these things that look like eyeballs, we had one each, it was some sort of jelly with red bean, we only had one. We made our way one street from the market to see the river and the bridge called Rainbow Bridge. The wind had picked up now, so was getting a bit cold, we went across halfway, saw the Taipei 101 building and took some photos. We left Chin
and Lin and their family, as the children were getting tired.
Singing and Sky then took us about 1km away down past many shops to a foot massage place, got into some funny pants then sunk our feet into some hot water, had a shoulder massage which was wonderful, then they started on the feet, never had this type of foot massage before, didn't know if I was enjoying it or was in pain!!
We said bye to Singing and Sky here, they sent us in a taxi back to our hotel where we relaxed with a quiet drink, whilst I filled out the Travelpod then sleep, another great day!!
