I had a really good nights sleep last night, which really helps to set you up for a good day ahead. I was up, however and sorted by 9:15! Although I should point out, everyone else at Basecamp was at the morning yoga class at 8:30! I may consider joining in the early evening class at some point. That is a Yin Yoga class. It is a slower, pre relaxing form of yoga. …. Maybe!
At 9:30, the class was completed, and the breakfast table was laid. The menu is a vegan menu. I’m enjoying the food, but I rarely know exactly what I am eating! The variations of hummus, the peanut butter, and the chocolate spread are also nice. They are all homemade, and taste much better than their mass produced counterparts! Breakfast is always accompanied by a glass of natural fruit juice and a shot of lemon and ginger juice. It’s a great start to each day!
Ella missed breakfast as she’s gone off in a tuk tuk to the electricians, her and the handyman are arranging for new stuff for the yoga shala. She is working hard to get it I and running as soon as
possible!
The morning has started out slightly overcast, with a warm breeze, which is a nice bit of relief from the constant hot sun! But it is still about 32 degrees, so that can’t be underestimated!
I chilled at Basecamp until Ella finished work. The time flies by easily as there is always someone to chat to! I took a short meander along the front main road. Between the cows, the army men, the tuk tuk and other various traffic, it was pretty busy.
When Ella was finished with work the tuk tuk came to collect us to take us 8km south to Mirissa. We are having an afternoon around the pool in a really nice beach location. The roads were really busy today as there is a Poya Parade occurring in celebration of the full moon. We are hoping to catch a glimpse of it passing, but no one is sure when that will actually happen!
After a bit of pool, and sunned time we headed up the beach for a bite to eat. We strolled upon a little beach restaurant/cafe hidden in the shade at the end of the beach… perfect!
And then
the noise/music started out in the streets. The Poya party parade has started. It was great to see…. For about 20 minutes, then you start to think…. I wish the noise was now over!!! It went on for at least an hour, or more. It was really bright and colourful, and very noisy!
It’s been an easy relaxing day by the pool and beach. We got our tuk tuk back at about 5pm. It’s amazing how tired I get just chilling, laid on a sunbed with the occasional swim!!! Crazy!
We had a quick shower turnaround as Ella has arranged another group dinner. It works well for the group as they are all female solo travellers. We are going to Bangkok Kitchen. For Thai food, to be followed with drinks at a local bar that has live music tonight. Ella did discuss a slow walk down the hill, then surprisingly, two tuk tuks arrived!
The meal was nice. It was typical Thai food. I opted for a prawn pad Thai, and enjoyed it. Considering I didn’t feel hungry… I still ate it!
Then the drama began!
We had agreed to go to the live music
bar for a couple of drinks. We actually walked there as it wasn’t very far away, but on arrival, there had been a change of plan. They did not have live music, and the bar was empty, and in silence. We took a group decision to get 3 tuk tuks to go to a party bar in the next village. As we arrived, an almighty fight was breaking out in front of us. 2 of the drivers simply didn’t stop there…. In favour of our safety, whilst the third driver, who was not from our regular drivers, just dropped 2 of the girls and drove away! By now we are on to plan C… I think…. We headed in our home direction to a third bar, which was really thumping the loud sounds out… no one fancied that…. So home we went for a green tea with ginger and bed!!!!…..
So….. until tomorrow xxx
