We arrived in Sri Lanka at7am walking through duty free you could buy anything from a fridge washing machine, tv, or just drink, chocolate and perfume (Assma) they were like garage lock ups about 25 in total. We meet our guide who takes us on a1/2 hour journey to our hotel. We were left alone for 4 hrs and then picked up for a tour of the town,
The standard of living is very poor and is all around the town, packs of dogs roam the streets, as do cows and goats but due to their religious status have freedom to roam and can't be touch, um sorry I'm late for work cow in the road! Would thatwash I wonder? Children in the streets selling anything they can, very often they have no shoes, it was a real eye opener in 2015, we're dropped back at the hotel and the evening is ours, we get back just in time to see the rapid sunset, 5 mins in all. We walk over the road to a nice little restaurant that tickled all 5 senses really lovely food and a sensual experience and was the restaurant was owned by an Englishman.
