And so it begins...
waiting for the train Hey everyone,
Just got home from the Gym...had my first hip hop lesson! It was awesome, the instructor is amazing and he walks you though all the steps. I must say that I was sweating by the time I was done. I am starting to look forward to going to the gym everyday. It is a huge stress reliever from school and takes your mind off of everything. I have never been to a gym that seriously has everything. There are a million treadmills and elipticals, weight machines, classes, yoga, spa, EVERYTHING you name is they got it and I love it!!!
I cannot believe that it is monday again...the weekend went by way too fast. All of us teachers needed a break and so friday night was our time to let loose and have a little fun! Just what the doctor ordered. We took the subway to Itaewan, which is three districts away. There is this great little Irish Pub called Wolfgang. We went there for some live music and Guiness. It was okay but the band was not at all what we were expecting. So we left there and headed to another bar...which ended up being a Gay bar.

Christine and Jasmine I wasn't aware of this and actually ended up meeting some pretty cool people. I met a guy named Chad, who is gay, but he is also from Edmonton. We had a BLAST!! We were reminiscing about "Degrassi" and it was nice to be able to say "Oh yeah that place on Whyte Ave" and have someone who knew what I was talking about! Don't get me wrong I love it hear and and completely embracing myself in the culture but having a comfort of home is also nice....plus its nice to have some friends outside of school so that we all don't get too sick of each other!! So that was friday...On Saturday, Jasmine, Adam and I met up with our Korean friend Jade and we went to a district called Hang-dae (spelling??). This is a pretty trendy area of Seoul with one of the major universities being right there. I am not too sure which one because there are quite a few but basically it reminded me of where the UofA is situated in relation to Whyte Ave. There were some pretty trendy shops and lots of younger people that looked like they would be great to get
Wisconsin!
Adam and Jasmine to know. We went to a restaurant and had a meal that I like to call "Octopus Stirfry". Most meals in Korea are served on barbeques or stoves that are built into the table, they bring the food out to you and then you wait for it to be cooked and then the hostess comes over and cuts it up and then you can eat it. This is actually a really cool process and something I am getting used to. For Jasmine, this was her first time trying Octopus so of course I had to take a picture. It was really tasty and I hope to try more exotic dishes of that calibre. After dinner we were going to walk around but it was super cold outside. So, we decided a coffee would do just the trick. We did check out a few shops and vendors but I hope to go back to this area to spend some more time and get a few things. And then there was Sunday...I actually didn't get home til very late on Sunday morning because I was at Jasmine and Adam's house. Adam and I decided very late that we were going to watch
Duskim!
This guy is unreal FUN! a movie and picked "Indian Summer". Its based in the 80's and is a pretty good choice if you are in a silly mood to watch a movie. The first line is "There's nothing like a good moose" and form there I knew that it was going to be good. It stars Diane Lane...when she is like 22~ and such a hottie~!! Anyways, we had some laughs and that brings me to Sunday day where sleeping in felt so good. I spent sunday cleaning, and getting things in order around my house. Did some planning at school and attempted Kim's Club and the subway by myself...which was successful. I really miss driving though. I had to haul three bags of groceries home from Kim's which is a good trek. But don't feel sorry for me, its part of the plan to get buff while in Korea. And so now it is Monday...well technically very early on tuesday morning...12:03 and I am wiped from the day. This weekend we are going exploring in Seoul and partaking in some St. Patricks day activities. Jasmine and I are going to make green pudding with our kids on Thursday so I will let you
St. Pattys!
Plans for next weekend?? know how it turns out. Take care all....
All my love, Jal Jee nae
