Another visit to the Garden of Morning Calm. I really enjoyed it last year, and some of friends hadn't been so I headed back this year with them. We did it differently to last year, instead of taking one of the regular buses from the bus terminal we (well, Yeri) booked us a package deal. It was 19,000 won and included the return coach trip from Apgujeong (fancy part of Seoul) and admission to the garden. The bus journey took about an hour and half and went pretty smoothly due to not much traffic. This was certainly quicker than last year, when we took the bus to Cheongpyeong and then a taxi to the gardens. I spotted the lush dalkgalbi restaurant we went to last year. Sad, we wouldn't get to go there on this trip.
We arrived at the gardens around 5ish. It was still really light outside, so we had a mooch around the garden centre looking at the pretty plants, and then the shop. I ended up buying some soap and a pillow spray to help me sleep, I can't remember if I bought it last year or not too. We also had a little look around
the gallery, the pictures of the gardens in all the different seasons make me want to come back at various times of the year and see the changes for myself. They turned the light on at 5:50 and it was still really bright outside. It doesn't look as good as when it's pitch black. We must of arrived later last year as it seemed to get darker quicker.
We set off on a different route than the one I took the previous year. We headed towards the chapel first. I saw the awful Jordan wedding carriage thing complete with lit up horse. We then headed up the hill. I couldn't remember all the huge pretty flowers from last year. They were gorgeous and I took a bajillion photos of them. The queues for the photo opps were huge, I think even bigger than last year, so we skipped those. I didn't mind, I can live without a photo of me shooting an arrow at my mates in a heart.
There were lots of cute animals fashioned out of lights, deers and elephants. We kept walking up to the church and saw the pretty angels that were all lit
up. We went into the tiny church. There were lots of people sitting on the pews. I'm sure last year, only a few people were allowed in at a time, but this year it was a free for all. It was properly dark now, so we headed down to the main garden bit. It was magnificent, so pretty, I was still in awe of it. We spent a while taking some photos.
The others had called to say that they were in the cafe, so after walking around the rest of the gardens we headed there. It was nice to get in from the cold, but not as unbearable as last year. I didn't even have to wear my gloves. I ordered a caffe mocha. When my buzzer went to pick it up, another lass was heading tot the counter to pick up her coffee, she saw my mocha and tried to take it, as it looked amazing, tonnes of whipped cream and half an oreo on the top. She looked gutted when the barrista pointed out that the rather poor looking coffee was hers. Everyone at the table was impressed with my coffee, too. We sat there chatting
and chilling until it was time to head back to the bus at 8:20. The bus left at 8:30 and the journey home was quick. We were back in Seoul by half nine and headed for a bite to eat before going our separate ways.
