Little India
Before arrival I had been very curious to know who it was that made up Singapore. What was their language, food, customs and ethnic background. But I'm not sure if my questions were answered in a way I would have expected - Singapore is such a diverse mixture of people, culture and religion that perhaps that in itself is Singapore's symbol; diversity.

I decided to avoid the comercialised Merlion of Sentosa and took to the back streets of Little India, China Town and went to the island Pulau Ubin for the day. Everyone I met was exceptionally helpful and I really enjoyed the few days I had. It was also a bonus to see Gabi, Peter, Beth and Anna again and see how life in Singapore is treating them.

This rain was so fierce that it would hit you from above, then bounce up from the ground and get you again. Needless to say I got soaked!

These always remind me of 'Monsoon Wedding' where the guy keeps eating the marigolds. Must be an Indian thing.

The perfume made here is very unique. Its pure oil - no alcohol is added. One of the reasons for this is in keeping Islamic law which bans alcohol. The prices range from SD $10 upwards and you can find completely orginal fragrances they make - or describe what you want (or take a sample) and they will create it for you. It's well worth a visit!
