Hello again, and so soon!
So we arrived back into Bangkok and this time really enjoyes ourselves! We stayed right near Siam Square and therefore amoungst the vast lights and shopping malls (of which there are many).
As we had visited all the sites last time we were here in December, we opted to catch up on every film that has come out since we'e been away! Walk the line (now love J. Kash but Joaquin Phoenix more!), Transamerica (very good), Crash (really very good). We also visited Bed Supper Club. For those of you who have never heard of it (I hadn't before meeting Rich) you must look it up as you have to see it to believe it! It looks like a spaceship from the outside, a big silver oblong thing, and inside is like being in a gian egg with everything white and big beds to relax on and little tables on the beds to eat from. A magician roamed around doing tricks (Rich loved this guy and cracked up whenever he came within a 2 foot radius) and we had the most amazing food I have ever had in my life!
The next night,

A bed with a view of below! having gotten a taste for wine, we eventured to Cabbages and Condoms. We had been to it's sister restaurant in Chiang Rai and the prices were great and the food wonderful....and then of course there's the wine that Richard brought to the table and said "Thought I'd just buy it and tell you later so you can't say no!"....and I would have as it was over half our daily budget. I did of course tell him off inbetween big long sips!
We jumped on a plane to Singapore which was fairly uneventful until we came to land and these two kids were making a huge racket and being encouraged by their mother....Richard ginally shouted three times (very loudly) "SHUT-UP! SHUT-UP, SHUT-UP! I can't take it anymore!". I went very red and I think people thought he was yelling at me and looked at me sympathetically and him like he was a monsterous wife beater. Kids carried on making a racket.
I didn't know what to expect from Singapore (don't bother reading the guide of course) and was amazed at how clean it is! Also how futuristic! It reminded me if Unierversal studios, where you walk through all these

A chance to not look like a traveller! different streets from different moves that have been put together. Just like that...so cool!
The people are very friendly and go out of their way to help you. We arrived late and all the places reccommended in the guide were now too expensive or full and we sat at a cafe wondering what to do and getting irate with each other and the very nice owbner started phoning people for us and found us a room which she got at a cheaper rate for us. Really lovely! We've met so many people loke that here. It's a British colony so everyone speaks english. Strange seeing Chinese people wandering around speaking even to each other in English.
Walked through the rainforest in Singapore. Very pretty but with signs about the wildlife I wish I hadn't seen....like the one about the spider that jumps great distances onto it's prey. Great. We soon came across a beautiful clearing overlooking a waterfilled quarry. My favourite bit was when we were just leaving the rainforest and saw lots of monkeys! I love monkeys!
Spent my birthday on the Sentosa Island man made beach and Rich and I toasted our joint birthday's together

A chance to not look like a traveller! as only 2 days apart (I'm his older woman!). Not happy about being 25......shouldn't I be making life plans or something? Nah!
Richard's birthday (being 2 days after mine) was mainly spent on a bus to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where we arrived to very impressive lightening storms and then torrential rain. Stayed in the worst place yet with no windows, condensation running down the walls and sharing a bathroom with about 30 people who didn't seem to know that the toilet does actually flush. We didn't notice too much though as went out for some cmfort "home food" which, being British, meant having an Italian! We then stumbled across the Havana Club and had wine before tumbling back to our awful room and passing out until sobering slightly at 5am and being unable to sleep as just to hot! Up again and got yet another bus to Pangkor.
When we arrived we were both feeling rather hungover and a it green around the gills so before we braved the boat over to Pangkor Island from the bus station in Lumut, we went in search of food and Richard, spotting a red and white building, suddenly said four
words I thought I'd never hear from him...."I want a KFC".....I had to get photgraphic evidence. He hasn't had a KFC for years and would never go near McDonalds or such places. It wasn't great but we did feel much better afterwards! The island was beautiful and really peaceful. We spent our days on the beach and attempted to watch the 4am Premier Leauge football matches. After a few days we left for Peneng.
Arriving in Panang (also known as Georgetown) we were amazed at the heat! It's like opening the door to a steam room! The accommodation is not brilliant in Georgetown and barely anywhere has hot water. We were however able to find a htel called Garden City (or something like that) run by two lovely Indian chaps who called themselves Bob and Martin. We suspect that these are not their actual names. The room was clean and air-con and bathroom facilities shared. We did not get one good nights sleep though as everynight people were making such a racket despite being asked to "shut-up!". On our final night we had no sleep the same couple that had been keeping us awake with their friends, were
having a full scale fight that went on for hours. They were asked to leave at 2:30am but continued to scream for a bit longer.
We visited a temple and a butterfly garden (yay!) in Pangkor but just being out for a few hours drains your body comletely of all energy and leaves you thirsty constantly!
We are currently in Tama Rata in the Cameron Highlands where it is much cooler and a beautiful mountain village. Lots of treks to do and we set of on one this morning which took about 3 hours and I am now very tired! We had to work our way right up a mountian and back down again. View from the top was very impressive.
It has clouded over and is now thundering and raining outside....I'm going to get soaked returning to the hotel! Love our accommodation here is lovely. Shared bathroom facilities but who cares when you've got a lovely garden with Rabbits (called Punch and Judy, v friendly and soft!) and a tea room that makes amazing scones!
Cameron Highlands is renowned for it's strawberries. Lots of "pick your own"places and they are the best
Cabbages and Condoms
Thankfully, the waitressers did not dress like this.
we've ever tasted!
We will do more trekking here and then go to the East side of the Island to Kota Bahru before setting off for another beach!
I would love to be able to do more enteries but please bare in mind that internet costs money and the prices jump wildly from place to place and as connections are not great pictures take a long time to download and my work is lost often! Therefore, I will try to do a blog after each country so will do another when we move on from Malaysia....whenever that may be! Thinking maybe Phillippines next?
Please enjoy photo's. My favourites are Rich and the monkey walking down the side walk together and the one where Richard was posing unkowingly in front of a Georgio Armani shop....tee hee.
Will send more pictures etc. when I can.
Lots of love until the next time.
