We thought we were being quite organised for Singapore by trying to book our accommodation two days before we got there. But no one told us Singapore closes at the weekend. We were forced to book into a really posh hotel for the first night and move onto a not quite so posh one for the remaining two nights. And we nearly got left at the airport because no one knew we were coming, no fun at 2 in the morning.
All was well in the end and we spent the next few days looking around. So far this is Nick's favourite city (something to do with big skyscrapers and shiny metal). We took a river trip, wandered around, went to Raffles Hotel (I wasn't too scruffy for this apparently, although we didn't get any free nibbles) and wandered through some of (what we reckon) are the biggest shopping centres I never want to visit again. We ate by the river and drank Singapore Slings at Raffles (well we would have had a second drink but the bar tender seemed to have received his customer service training from a 15 yr old Mac Donalds server).
