Trip to Singapore

21 hours in the dark on the flight. Crossed the dateline making us a day ahead. It makes us 8 hours behind Pacific TIme.

Well we have arrived. 21 hours and three countries later we finally are here. We're staying at a hostel in the Little India district, lots of temples and mosques (hindu, buddhist, muslim etc. ) But at every corner there are food vendors and lots of english speaking people. Also, lots of vegetarian food, who knew? We're sure glad it was the first place we've stopped at, makes the buses and subway alot less confusing.

So far we've only touched on Singapore, with only Little india under our belts. In the coming days we're going to hit , Little China and some of the other ethnic districs. We managed to find the 14 story national library in our random trekking through streets in our area.

Although we really are a minority here, it really hasn't felt like we don't fit in. We thought there would be a little more transition between our culture and theirs. The hostel experience is quite interesting, a 30 bed room shared with men and women, showers with stalls and bathrooms shared again, but really its private enough and quiet and clean when your trying to sleep. We hope you'll like these pictures, we're having a

The place was so empty that we didn't know if we should go in, there was a huge shrine at the back with thousands of pictures of dead family members, a lady again told us it was ok to go in

They drive on the left if you really look.....but the library was huge, and very efficient like the rest of singapore. The escalators wouldn't start until you virtually stepped on them.
