Its been a while since my last post so I'll try to make it up....
Went to Singapore last Apr with my family for a little R n R. It was actually 3 months waiting period as the airline tickets were both sometime in Janaury to which we've managed to get it at a knock off bargain price of 350 usd...a two way ticket for the four of us!!!
we arrived about 1400 hrs to which hunger struck us big time as the budget airfare doesn't offer free food, and the only thing they have on the menu is some instant noodles and colas......hey its a budget airline so I beleive it is all good right?
After a late lunch, we proceed to our hotel in Arab street called the Landmark to which T n Z (my babies abv.) were running around silly when we got into the room.
After a few minutes, we are off to explore the city. 1st stop was the Merlion to which was a big disappointment to my eldest as the iconic landmark is enclosed in a red box and is being utilized for some exhibit. Good thing that we knew another
spot that is massive than this one to which got her so excited and consumed her ice cream bun in a flash....A few clicks on the camera, and we are off to Mustafa where we bought some flipflops as my wife and kids were not prepared for the sunny weather (did I mentioned that they all brought along 2 pairs of jackets each?......). Saw some bargain electronics but was not intereted that time....
On our way back, my wife noticed the buzzling Bugis street to which she saw rows and rows od designer clothes which I think put sparkle in her eyes and has asked for us to return to the place tomorrow (wherein we ended dropping by everyday actually),
Next day was a trip to Universal Singapore. We got there via MRT then a short, but scary cable car ride to where my daughter saw a sight to behold.....a mammoth Merlion in the horizon! She was so pumped that she didn't mind the scary view below. We alight and wen straight for the Merlion an snap some photos before taking the train to Universal Singapore where we spent the whole day taking pictures with the mascots and
touring their different attractions. Z was pretty much into it that he is even trying to start a conversation with the mascots. It was a must place to visit in Singapore, but was a bit disappointed when I found out that there are no train tour that I usually saw on tv. Only consolation was the waterworld set which is a must see...Overall, its alright but was expecting something more.....
On our way back, we again visited Bugis street where my wife both some clothes..took her some time to choose that she even forgot that she is with us (hehehe....). We came back three more times during our stay, and all the time she was here, it seems that she was in pure bliss....end up spending quite a lot for shopping......
Next day, we dicided to take the bus to roam around and ended up in Orchard road where we saw tons of Filipinos hanging around. It suddenly feels as if we were home already with the "kuyas and ates" all around us. Here is where we bought our IPAD2 to my babies delight. While in Orchard road, Z suddenly break-wind when he saw a bunch of doves
littering in the walkway. He chased down the poor birds to his delight until he actually managed to caught one! Well he released the bird instantly upon getting peck on his wee little fingers but he was so delighted that he showered the birds with his biscuits.....this actually became a sight for those wandering.....
In the afternoon, we went around the block of our hotel to sample some India tea and spicy tofu which was quite good. Then again back to Bugis Street for a last minute shopping before having our last dinner in a nearby hawkers food court where we found out that food are fairly cheap. TOld my wife that the next time, we should consider eating at these joints when we are back in town. THis way we can have more money for shopping at Bugis?.....was her reply....
The following day, we were up early to catch our flight back to Manila. Singapore is a safe city. Everyone is quite helpful when you need to ask for directions which is I believe not applicable as the city is well organized and easy to navigate with signage in the english language. However, Singapore is also a
"fine city".......Fines are imposed on everything so better know the rules before before heading out....Next stop Korea! but that's another blog......
