Indra at Dohori, Thamel, Nepal Tuesday began slowly, but I finally got my first cooking lesson in the afternoon. I helped Krishna cut up the veges & she showed me how to make curry. I need to translate a couple of spice names into english, but I've written down the recipe & am pretty confident of duplicating it at some stage in the future. Unfortunately there wasn't chance for me to sample the cooking, as I'd planned to go for dinner at Sal's Pizza (Bills place). The boys must have sorted out the initial teething problems, as my food was ready in about ten minutes & tasted great.
After dinner, I met with Jill at the Lazimpat Cafe & watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, starring Jim Carrey & Kate Winslett. The movie was pretty good, but the apple pie & icecream dessert was awesome. Jill & I shared a chocolate muffin, which wasn't as good & I overdid it with a hot chocolate & left more than stuffed. I was thankful for the walk (albeit short) home, as it gave all that food chance to digest a little.
Did bugger all on Wednesday, other than reading, journal writing & washing; just

Nicolle & friend at Dohori, Thamel, Nepal counting down the days now. The internet was down, so I helped Krishna with some food preparation before heading out. I met Jill at the KEEP office & we waited for her friend Dinesh, then headed out for dinner. We landed at Cheers Bar, a little restaurant Jessica & I'd eaten at previously, which screens English movies while you eat. Another lady had already chosen the movie Finding Neverland, which I'd not seen, so we settled in & ordered some two for one cocktails. A slight communication hitch meant Jill & I ended up with two Kiss Me Quick cocktails each, but that really only saved us from having to order more later. Dinner took ages & tasted mediocre, but the movie was good.
Afterwards, we noticed a young guy passed out on the table at the back of the restaurant. Jill noted that he was probably in that condition as a result of the smell of hash in the air. I'd ben too engrossed in the movie to notice & just thought it was incense, which was burning nearby. He must have exhaled enough to affect us, as I practically inhaled my food & found the hour or

Nicolle, Indra, Sandy & friend at Dohori, Thamel, Nepal so we watched of Undercover Brother just hilarious. For a cheesy American movie I'm sure it wasn't that good, but I'll have to watch it again another day to see just how stoned I really was.
Had an upset somach for much of Thursday & took it easy, just resting in my room & reading. Sandy visited in the afternoon for her first English class & Jessica returned from trekking. By evening I was feeling better & met Jill & Dinesh for dinner at the Lazimpat Cafe. The accompanying movie was Touching The Void, a true story about two mountaineers & their expedition in South America. They reached the summit of the mountain, but one guy fell off the side during their descent & broke his leg. His friend tried to help him down, but when he went over the edge for the second time & showed no signs of movement for hours, the other guy thought he was dead & cut him loose. He fell & broke through the roof of a crevasse, survived the fall & managed to find a way out & stumble down the mountain. The able bodied guy had made it back to

Dohori at Thamel, Nepal base camp over a couple of days & stayed there, recovering from his ordeal. Miraculously, hours before they were due to break camp, broken leg guy made it back & survived! The movie was part doco & had the actual people telling their story, so you really felt everything they went through. It was an amazing story of survival, one which I suspect most people wouldn't have lived through.
Friday was quite busy as I began preparing to leave Mukti next week. Jessica, Shanti, Pema & I visited the supermarket to stock up on supplies, then headed down to the library. Shanti accompanied Jessica on a shoppling expedition to purchase Pashmina shawls for gifts, whilst I continued on to the Air India office to fix up my changed flight paperwork. After wandering around my bookshop in Thamel for a while, it was time for a well deserved drink, so I headed off early to Tom & Jerry's Bar. Jessica arrived at six & we chatted for an hour before heading downstairs to the Israeli restaurant for dinner. Afterwards we went to the bakery for our last dessert & hot chocolate together in Nepal, as Jessica leaves tomorrow. The

Nicolle dancing at Dohori, Thamel, Nepal hotel next to the bakery was holding a fundraiser for a local orphanage & was very busy, so we ate & went home for an early night. Dad's divorce became official today, so this evening was a two fold celebration of that & Jessica's time in Nepal.
I managed to ignore the world until eight on Saturday morning, then got ready & went to order food for today's farewell lunch. As Jessica leaves today & I on Wednesday, we decided to shout the kids a meal & celebrate our time spent at Mukti. We ordered an assortment of food, I went to the internet for an hour & picked everything up on the way back. We ate lunch, played pass the parcel & had a few games of Limbo - all of which were a big hit with the kids.
Dinner came courtesy of Bijay, so Krishna finally had a day off from cooking, which I was glad of. Goma was still sick, so we farewelled Jessica & she caught a taxi to the airport. The power went out at eight, so it became an early end to a long and enjoyable day.

Nicolle dancing at Dohori, Thamel, Nepal checkup Sunday morning was a no go, as his doctor was away in Japan. It was a rainy day & the power was out for a good portion of the afternoon, so other than internet, stairwalking & the occasional nap, I spent much of the day in my room reading.
Monday morning was spent madly tying up loose ends in preparation for my Kathmandu departure, then Joy picked me up at midday for lunch. Her daughter has been unwell & was being checked out by a doctor, who we met with & ended up joining us for lunch. I returned to Mukti mid afternoon, then went to Jill's as arranged to meet for dinner. It had been raining again for most of the day, so we took a tax into Thamel & met Robbie at Roadhouse restaurant for pizza. I ran into two Swiss guys from my Tibet trip, who had just returned to Kathmandu. Dinner was fantastic, I ate too much pizza & was thankful for the chance to walk some off on the way home. Only two more sleeps to go!!!
